Oh Hell Sad  I just read Alan Rickman passed. I posted a few months ago about meeting him. I've met more actors than can be listed. Most were wonderfull; a very sick Bela Lugosi joined us on a sidewalk Hungarian restaurant in Encino: to proud to admit he was broke, my father said we had to much goulash and he held me on his lap singing a Hungarian folksong. My godmother Jane Russell swore at Jack Benny for almost running me over driving a red buick convertible with sidemounts for a violin lesson with my grandmother. Yakima Canute taught me to ride and Sophia Loren gifted me a Kiton tie one Christmas at my horrible big box survival job.
Alan was, well just class and Again the world is diminished

Terrible news. He was great in everything he did but my favorite of his roles were in Die Hard and Harry Potter

I was blessed seeing him in Richard lll in London on stage. He was gobsmacked meeting a Californian who had been there and remembered.

I was at Steve McQueen's bedside when he passed in 1980 and am the god father of Clint Eastwood's daughter, Alison so I know how you feel, Kav.  Rest in peace, Mr. Rickman.

I met Steve twice. I was at Lake Malibu working on the rotting dock of a friend's father,  retired art director who worked with McQueen on his first T.V. series. We were breaking for lunch and I heard this insane roar of a motorcycle pulled in. I heard this voice ' I'm thirsty, hey, can I bum a beer?' I grabbed one of my Warsteiners, looked and reached up to see him standing with his hands on hips smiling.' He took one look at my BRG MGA coupe and started talking cars.
Years later he was living at the Fillmore Airport with his third wife flying a yellow Stearman biplane and sporting a huge beard. I dropped in to a local greasy spoon and heard a voice ' Hey Chris! I owe you for that beer, remember?' and I slid into his booth for a plate of biscuits&gravy and coffee.
Another enchanting encounter was in Westwood village near UCLA. I was with by brother and two dates. I'm wearing the old crackerjack uniform and
overheard the bartender talking to some guy' Aw gee Frank, I'm all out of camels'. We used to get cigarettes for .25 at the PX, and although I didn't smoke, it was traditional to keep one tucked inside your 'liberty cuffs'- embroidered patches sewn inside the tarback jumper to keep your money handy.
I pulled my pack out, tossed it over and heard ' hey! thanks pal!' This guy walks in ' Frank, the cars outside your late!' I looke up as Sinatra walks out, turns with a smile and winks at me.
My brother then pulled his 'I forgot my money, front for me' BS and I'm looking at a combined tab that would wipe out my leave funds. I slowly start counting my money out and the bartender says ' tabs paid by Mr Sinatra'.
Celebrities have a lot of jerks in their ranks. They also have some wonderful characters.
Listening to Harry potter music.

I watched "A Little Chaos" the other night on cable tv, Alan Rickman directed and acted in it and was superb as always. Very fitting to have him play a king who is aware of the passage of time and human frailty. So sad to lose him.

Not a Harry Potter fan, so can't comment on his role in that movie, but he was awesome as the crook in Die Hard, just perfect.

RIP

And Tom Selleck's antagonist 'Marston' in QUIGLY DOWN UNDER. Live theater is blessed by the moment. I wish I could close my eyes and convey how
Alan spoke Elizabethan English and used his mannerisms in Richard, I had chills down my spine he was so bad/good.
