My kids bought me a couple of brushes for my birthday, and I'd like to share some pics with the forum.

The two band (27x55) spent almost 2 weeks in customs. The three band (27x50) arrived first, after only a week or so in transit. Here it is upon opening the box.

Its first soak:

All clean, and ready for its first shave:

The two band arrived today. It has since received three full lathers and soaks. No pics of post-bloom as my phone was being charged (sorry):

Soaking the two band:

Here they are for a size comparison with a Duke 3. If you've been yearning for a D4 this may be your answer!

The three band is very dense, with very good backbone and flow through. I'm excited to use the two band for tomorrow night's shave!

Thanks for looking Biggrin . I will post more (and hopefully better) pics, including shots looking down at the knots after I've used the two band for a while.

Thanks. I'm quite pleased with them- at least the 3 band. I'll know more about the 2 band after tomorrow night's shave. If it's anything like the 3 band it should be awesome!

Interesting that yours spent 2 weeks in Customs.  I used Fed Ex for my Epsilon.  The brush was shipped on a Thursday and arrived the following Monday.  I've ordered from Shavemac a number of times, also using Fed Ex.  Some of the brushes have been help up in Customs for a day or two, and others have made it to me in three days.  It almost seems random.

Thanks. I've read your enthusiastic posts. You almost swayed me toward the 50mm knot. However I wanted a little variety in height between the 2 incoming brushes, especially considering the 2 band's reputation for scrubbier face feel.

Lorenzo.
Thank you Biggrin They are also special because each was a gift from my 2 kids!

I asked my daughter to give me daily updates from tracking info she had. The info rarely changed. It went from Spain to Switzerland and then to the U.S. It was ordered Dec 30, in 3 days it was in Switzerland, 3 days to U.S. It arrived in my mailbox on the 16th. In retrospect it seems I miscalculated the 2 weeks, but yet it was 11 days in the U.S. Clearly the result of New Year's backlog, lol!

The 27/55mm should still have good backbone and scrub, and may feel softer than the 27/50mm.  Please post your thoughts on the 27/55mm, as I may consider it as a companion to my 27/50mm.  From the reviews it looks like the entire Epsilon badger line is outstanding.

Did they get some help choosing those for gifts? If not, that's a very nice guess about what would you like.

Two wonderful brushes, Charlie. Thanks for your comments on the 3-Band. I have the 2-Band and been thinking for some time of the 3. I'm pretty much decided, now.

Thanks for posting about these brushes. I've been really curious about the flow through for a 3 band set at a 50 mm loft. Sounds like you're having no problems, so that's great to hear.

I have the 2-band in 27/50 and am considering getting the 27/55.  When you go up to the 27/55, how much backbone and scrub do you lose?

Ricardo, being that I haven't yet used the 2 band for a shave, my only frame of reference is comparing the dry knot to that of by SOC 2 band. Wow, what a difference! The tips on the Epsilon are so much softer than the SOC. The knot is denser, too.

One of my "complaints" with the SOC was the super-scrubby feel. This brush took forever to break in. Honestly, idk if it is totally broken in yet. The Epsilon otoh, comparatively already feels broken in, and I haven't even used it yet to shave! Man, I am sooo looking forward to shaving later!!!!!

(sorry, idk how I did that...) Yes, Oguz. I sent each one a link to the brush in question. I learned a long time ago that if I wanted to avoid the shirt/tie/slacks that I'd never wear, it's much easier to simply tell them what would make me happy. It's the only thing I ever ask of them. Once a year on my birthday doesn't seem like it's asking too much.

Thanks, David. I briefly considered the ivory, but I already own four ivory handled brushes and was looking for something different. Isn't variety grand? Btw, which loft did you order?

Thank you, Luis. The 3 band is fabulously dense. When they release one with a fan, I will definitely jump on that!

Stuart, the flow through is a total non-issue with the 50mm loft. It works wonderfully!

Charlie, I ordered the 50mm loft. I have the 2-Band in a 55mm which has perfect backbone for me. I felt the lower loft necessary in 3-Band to maintain that.
