  1. Commodore is a naval rank used in many navies that is superior to a navy captain, but below a rear admiral. Non-English-speaking nations often use the rank of flotilla admiral or counter admiral or senior captain as an equivalent, although the latter may also correspond to rear admiral.

Simpson Commodore - X 3 - in 2 Band (2012/13 batch).
25/50mm knot

Handle height: 50mm

A very ergonomic handle with an outstanding knot of ultra soft 2 Simpson 2 Band hair of that time.

I also owned a XL2 - Colonel -, but in Manchurian and sold it quickly.

The X3 in 2 Band is one of my favorite Simpson brushes.

Any other Commodores out there?

Georg, I really like the look of the Commodore, but their knots are too small for me. Shy

I had an X3 in Best years ago.  It was one of my first Simpson brushes.  Would definitely get one in Manchurian or 2 band.

Celestino, I know you favor bigger knots. I have found 24-26mm knots to be my favorites.

I came very close to buying a Commodore before deciding to go with the Duke 3. I always liked the handle shape on the Commodore better though

Georg, that is absolutely correct! I would love to acquire a Chubby 3 2-Band, some day! As always, my friend, YMMV and as long as you are enjoying those 24-26mm knots is what is most important! Thumbup

The Commodore is one of the few Simpson handles I don't have in my collection...

I don't yet own this one, but was thinking about picking up either the Commodore or the Colonel. For me they would likely occupy a similar position in my brush rotation.

That would have been my usual style, but I'm consolidating...

Commodore is equivalent rank to an airforce Air Commodore and an army Brigadier, so your brush outranks my Colonel.

My Chubby wasn't able to join any branch of militry to get a rank.  Something about weight standards in the military and being to much of a hog lol
