I would like an updated view on what type of brush hair you prefer.

Please state if you bowl, hand or face lather and what type of brush hair you prefer.

I face lather and prefer prime badger brushes with backbone.

I face lather exclusively and I prefer 2 band badger hair, preferably in a fan knot. I use 3 band from time to time but 2 band is my favorite.

I voted Synthetic, but then again the nicest Badger I currently own is a Duke 3 in Best. From. All that I have read that will probably change when I finally get my hands on a 2-Band

Face lather with prime badger with backbone. But not too dense as to cut flow through

head latherer, here. I like a scrubby 2 band brush with lots of backbone/bordering on stiff.

I face lather and voted for prime badger with backbone.  The poll does not ask for a second choice.  If it did, my second choice would be synthetics.  My CH 2 and Muhle XL synthetics are good enough that I could use them exclusively.

Silky soft badger, with enough purchase to face lather with. A medium-size Thäter silvertip in bulb-shaped knot is my soft spot.

Bowl (scuttle) lather. I have 2-bands with backbone that I use on occasion but my daily drivers and general preference are for synthetics.

I voted all of the above (though I haven't tried and don't plan to try horse hair). My collection is currently split between badgers and boars, each with different characteristics. To choose one over the other would be blasphemy as I achieve an excellent shave and lather with each.

I face lather exclusively and use shaving creams predominantly, my preferred hair is prime badger with luxurious softness, e.g. Shavemac 3-band Silvertip and Thater 3-band Silvertip.
