It may be more hygienic to wear a beard than be clean shaven. The beard naturally populates with an antibiotic.

...and crumbs.

Interesting read. A well groomed beard - such as the moustache and goatee I'm maintaining - is as clean as a clean shaven chin, and gives others something more interesting to see than a weak jaw Tongue

There is a new belief our whole bodies are host to beneficial bacteria and we should be brushing off dead skin and not washing.
I will just continue to compromise my health bathing and shaving.

In the Middle Ages in Europe it was believed that bathing was bad for you.

Possible true down on the continent, definitely true among the anglo-saxons; the Norse invaders in England were far more attractive to Anglo-Saxon women since, unlike Anglo-Saxon men, they combed their hair daily, took baths weekly, and laundered their clothing regularly:

Chronica Joannis Wallingford Wrote:...the Danes, thanks to their habit of combing their hair every day, of bathing every Saturday and regularly changing their clothes, were able to undermine the virtue of married women and even seduce the daughters of nobles to be their mistresses.

Perhaps. But if the Anglo Saxon women bathed as infrequently as their men, I would not call the Danes lucky in that regard. Smile
