Has anyone else detected any difference on the scent of soaps or creams he has for a long time?

Personnaly, yesterday I sniffed my tub of T&H 10 and the scent seemed to have changed a little. I have it for more than a year. The scent from sweet jasmine, citrusy, floral with a hint of smoke/ wood became significantly more woody than it was. I didn't expect that to be honest, because it's supposed to be a mass product with preservatives etc.

I haven't yet experienced this, but fragrance oils do deteriorate over time. To prevent that with my perfumes I store them in a wine cooler. I'm not sure what one can do to prevent decay of scent in soaps/creams, except to store them in a cool and dry place.

I haven't noticed a change in scent in any of my shave soaps but have only been wet shaving for about a year. I have noticed that the scent in a few of them appears to have diminished though.

I have MdC in the open "brain bowl" while the scent hasn't changed its definitely mellowed. Given its continued exposure, its to be expected.

I find that with time, the intensity of the scent diminishes.  I assume this is because all soap and creams deteriorate over time.  Trumper states that the shelf life of its soaps and creams is one year.  I try not to keep more than 7 soaps at the same time, so that I use them within a reasonable  period of time and get the full intensity of the scent.

I was given a tub of Trumper Violet shaving cream in December 2014.  I didn't get around to using it until this past December 2015.  The consistency of the cream had definitely changed and was much firmer.  It still lathers fine, but the scent is not as strong.

I have two TOBS creams, Avocado and Rose, which constistency became much firmer also, but their scents are strong like the first day. In contrast, T&H 10's consistency hasn't changed at all but I can't say the same about its scent, unfortunately.

Let us know about how any changes in the consistency and if the scent is still strong.

Interesting how it's the consistency deteriorates in one brand, and the scent in the other.  Must be due to differences in the formulations.

Some fragrance oils simply deteriorate faster than others because they are less stable. Citrus and some florals are much less stable than woods, for instance. On the other hand, something like rose is actually fairly stable. It all depends on the particular blend, and it's not inconceivable that the citrus notes could dissipate while leaving the remaining notes, which would obviously change the impression it will offer to your nose.
