So I know that there are alot of threads covering the Shavemac knots and recommended loft sizes but I was hoping to get a recommendation on the loft size  for a 26mm Shavemac 2-Band Silvertip knot from some of you that have A Shavemac with a fan knot.

I'm planning on buying the knot for the brush in the pic below from Elite Razor. Robert recommended that I really go no higher than a 26mm knot. I primarily face lather with the exception of occasional bowl lathering of some creams, crops, and samples I have. I'm thinking of having the knot set at either 48 or 50mm. Is that about right? Will there be a noticeable difference in backbone at either of those settings? Thanks guys for any input.

Here's the handle

Rudy Vey recommended a 51mm loft on 2-band silvertip. I took his advise and am very pleased.

Which grade of Shavemac badger are you considering?  I think that will have a lot to do with the suggestions you get.

I'm leaning toward fan but wouldn't be opposed to a bulb. From what I understand loft size on the bulbs is easy though right, just double the knot so it would be 26x52

I recently got a shavemac 2 band silver tip fan- 28x52. It seems almost perfect for me. It has enough back bone but still great face feel.  I exclusively face lather. So I'd say a 26x50 fan would be great.

48 or 50 are both good options. Would pick based on your preferences - more backbone or a bit better flow-thru.

Recently had a Shavemac custom brush made with a 26mm 2 band Silvertip fan knot set to 50mm. I really enjoy it face lathering.

I prefer my Shavemac 26mm 2-Band fans set at 52mm, but 50mm would be the more popular setting. That's a beautiful handle and will be stunning with the Shavemac knot.

46-48mm loft. I have tried anything between 46 and 52mm and for a fan I would definitely stay below 50mm. See examples below. The preferred size for me is the barber handle that has 47mm.

Rudy Vey AS3M 26/48mm on the left
Bob Quinn "Elite Razor" 26/50mm
Shavemac Barber 26/47mm
Shavemac stock handle 24/48mm

I would go 50. My 24/48 is quite stout.

I think 26x50 would be great.  My 23x48 is very nice but lacks the back bone I was hoping for.  I just ordered one, 23x45.  26x50 should be awesome.  Enjoy.

Brush on the far left is beautiful, that's the Rudy Vey correct?

My preferred knot size ratio for Shavemac 2 band silvertip in fan is 25x46, so I'd go with 26/48. I have two in this size. They are soft and scrubby with good backbone and great flow through. I'd say make the call based on if you want a little more backbone or a little more splay. In either case it will be a good brush.
