Yes, vintage Yardley is still a good soap if you can find it.

They are easily the best performing soaps I have, but the scent was completely gone from two and barely lingering on the third. I took one of the scentless ones, grated it up and added some lavender EO. Worked pretty good.

Is mine from the thirties?. The Prince Of Wales Appointment Seal on the lid knob reads 1921-1936.

I'm not sure, but that's the one I added the lavender EO to.

I have a NOS soap and AS set that I have been very tempted to use to see what the fuss is about. I believe the soap still has a decent smell Biggrin

It's excellent stuff! I wish we had the ability to replicate the soap formula. Mine are all Black Label scent, I was very fortunate to stumble upon these.

I agree.

Yardley shaving soap is DIVINE.

You guys take great pictures too!

I've not had the pleasure of trying the Black Label Nero. How would you say is it different/similar compared to the Lavender?

Use it and enjoy it from time to time. The soap makes a slick cushiony lather like Tabac, or MWF. I'm hoping I can find some of the Lavender scent as I go into the deeper layers of the soap. Let us know how the aftershave works out for you. Is it Lavender scented also?.

Yardley needs to start making these soaps again. What scent is the Black Label?.

This thread has inspired me to use what I believe to be my oldest Yardley in one of my week-long-same-products shaving adventures starting today.. It's the one I grated and added some lavender EO to and that has turned out great, although I'm sure the original scent was better.

A series of stumbles, actually. Two of the triangles came from a fellow shaver/seller, but I met through etsy, haha.
He's the one who got me started in collecting the discontinued stuff, now that I think about it. It's all his fault Biggrin he sold me my first tallow Trumper and tallow Penhaligon's English Fern.
Then I subsequently found another Yardley triangle on eBay. And the Yardley bowl on eBay.

The Black Label scent is a cologne scent for sure. It is a barbershop scent with spice, moss, powder, citrus, and lavender. Possibly frankincense in there too. The thing is, each soap's scent is slightly different, likely dependent on age/aging, where different notes come through, but definitely the same original scent/theme.

Chevy, I just saw an old Yardley ad for sale on Ebay dated 1939,( it's a Buy It Now so I guess it's alright to post a link to it) it has a pic of that shaving bowl in it. I've always assumed that one to be my oldest one and this gives us an idea. The price for the shave soap is $1.
