A favorite brush of mine is the Simpson Milk Churn in 2 Band.
Another one of the overlooked Simpson handles.

There have been very few milk churns in 2 Band. This one is from a rare sale on TSS at the time (2012). I did not grab it when on sale there but a year or so later on BST when I was able to acquire it from a member.

It is a fantastic 25/50mm knot in plush soft 2 Band of that time.

The handle is actually very ergonomic to hold.

Pillow soft tips in a dense bulb that just provides the right amount of back bone and flow through.

Regular production brushes are in Best.

Any other milk churns out there?

Wonderful brush Georg. I had the same brush as you, but sadly I parted with it.

That is a gorgeous brush Georg! I have REALLY been wanting a MC as it slips under the radar, however it would have to be in something other than Best...your example is perfect Biggrin

You have a wonderful looking brush Georg. I have a Milk Churn 2 band but mine seem to be a little smaller than yours. My knot is a 21x47mm 2 band.

Rob, I believe there were different MC sizes in the past.
The TSS sale at the time had KH, 58/59, MC, T2/3 in 2 Band. I should have grabbed one of each at the time. It was the last appearance of 2 Band at retailers and all of those had wonderful full size knots.

Georg, I purchase mine on one of the BST forums a couple of years ago, so I do not know when it was purchased new. I don't think the person I bought it from was the first owner either. Wonderful brushes.

Mine is from the same batch as yours. From a era when Simpson was 'doing it' for me. Not so much these days.

Great brush.

That's a sharp looking brush there!

I like the sticker placement too. Funny how crooked the letter "C" is. Were they engraved by hand at that time? I wonder.

That knot is a nice shape. The top comes to a similar shape as the bottom band leading into the handle. Very symmetrical.

Wonderful brush. One of the few I've always regretted selling. You're a lucky man!

Unfortunately, I must admit I am one who falls in the category of overlooking the milk churn style brush...however, seeing this post has opened my eyes. I really like the look. As you mention the ergonomics of this brush just makes sense when looking at this beautiful piece of work!

Me, too. I got the most beautiful Polo 8 2-band silvertip from Phil. And an equally great Eshan. Both gone but not forgotten.

Oh you had to mention the Ehsan and the polo! Sigh. Who knew we would be missing them now! Selling them at the time had seemed like a great idea. This sbad bug is starting to spread again I fear.

Clearly a case of YMMV.  I've had an Ehsan on two occasions.  I've let them both go and do not have regrets.  A two band Duke 3 is a better fit for my preferences.

I've since moved to larger brushes myself and have been using my CH3 religiously. I do miss those days though and the Ehsan definitely brings back fond memories. Incidentally have been on the lookout for a Polo8 lately...and the cycle begins agains Smile
