Ordered a 28 x 61 in a metal handle from flea bay.  AAssuming tthere must be a connection to Shannon soaps as they included 2 samples with package.
I haven't used the brush yet but did give a soak for a while. My first thoughts are the shippi ng was fast and packaged well.  The knot seems pretty nice and though to me you cannot really tell much about a boar knot until having used it for 6 months.  The handle while metal as advertised is a bit lighter and thinner than I thought.  I am anxious to use the knot though and I applaud zenith for taking some chances and sprucing up boar brushes.  If the knot is nice Ivereally been eyeing those hand pain ted porcelain handled brushes.  Time will tell.

From what I can tell this is a very similar brush to my Antica Barbieria Colla boar. As this is one of my favorite brushes, I think you'll really enjoy it. The backbone is solid and the hair quality is excellent.

Let us know what you think when it arrives!

First use today.  Pretty good.  I like the handle and the hair seems quality.  Far from final evaluation but nice today.

I have both models with the Aluminum handle. One has the 26mm knot and the same you just purchased. Its a wonderful boar SB imo. Surprisingly face lathering with the 28mm is not hard and managing the lather is very easy. I also got it from the same vendor on Ebay. I also noticed they just released another model thats 28mm knot w/ 50mm loft too.

I saw that 28 x 50.  Not sure if, with the glue bump that is a feasible loft for a boar but again, if I like this brush I will probably sell it and get the one with the porcelain handle as I think that handle is beautiful.  I love boar and am glad to see some fancier options in boar.  After all, if a badger and boar fought, the boar would win every time.

If you really like the brush, why don't you get the knot transferred to a custom handle of your choice of material and specific dimensions. Nothing compares to a custom handle with your favourite knot. Thumbup

I may do that to.  AAfter a recent thread about boar knots a ppiffed a brand new omega pro knot to Doug Korn to see what he can do with it and maybe for a pass around.  AAs with all boars I have used though it can be 3 to 6 months before I know if it is a knot I really like.

I picked up one of the aluminum handled ones and it turned out to be a shedder. However, that didn't stop me from picking up another and one of the RR rebrands. I've been reaching for my Zeniths more than my Semogues recently.

I have the 2 boars my Semogue 1305 and Omega with out the stripe. I love them for cost and well used are very good. Omega broke in so fast and Semogue took forever. How does this Zenith do? I have to search for a web store because I do not have good luck with the ebay.

The Zenith does a great job breaking in and very easy. I think they are already broken in before use of SB. Aside from Semogue, I think Zenith Bristle quality is awesome.

+1

Zenith broke in very quickly. Although next time, I might get one with a higher loft. Mine has a 57mm loft - which I find a bit stiff.

Assuming the Antica boar I have is indeed a rebranded Zenith, I'd agree with this assessment. Actually, I find this brush to have better quality hairs than Semogue, and the break in time with it has been much less for me. After the first couple of uses, many of the hairs visibly split. Now it's a very soft and comfortable brush with great backbone.

Believe the Antica Colla is a rebranded Omega Pro 48/49...

I wouldn't know for sure, but others have told me it's a Zenith. It resembles this Zenith more than the Omega IMO.

ABC is not the same as an Omega. ABC is denser and has more backbone.

I got the 28/50 and am very well impressed. After 5 soak-lather-dry cycles it was ready to be used (took 10 cycles to a Semogue 820 and was still dubious) and it feels very nice when face-lathering; better than expected (based on the Semogue). Handle? I'll just say this knot might meet Rudy Vey.

I have no evidence of my statement just what I read here previously.. Any confirmation that the ABC is in fact a denser/softer brush?

It is not the same. ABC is taller lofter, denser and better quality hair than omega.

The handle is very thin tin and may not last.  If I end up liking the knot, mine may meet Mr Korn.
