I broke down and ordered one of the new Maggard V2 Open Comb razors to compare with the two V1’s I PIF’d. I just had my first shave with it. It is hefty, much heavier than my Gillette NEW SC. The MR1 handle is brushed stainless and the head is polished zinc alloy. I loaded a new Gillette Platinum in it. The blade alignment is immediate and perfect. I got a very good, close, smooth shave. It shaves much closer than the V1 which was, by most standards, too mild. This will be my new travel razor.

I just had my first shave with mine yesterday and really liked it. One thing I noticed was the audible feedback. I could really tell I was hitting the wiskers. Reminded me of a Gem SE.

I picked up an Maggard M3 today from a charity shop. I matched the handle with my 2013 R41... and it's superb! More heft, and looks just so much better. And did you know the bottom of the handle of the M3 was detachable? Yep. Unscrew it and add ball bearings, whatever, into the handle to give some ultra heft Smile My rematch weighs in at 89 grams.

I am back with the Maggard V2 OC again for a few days. I am using a Personna Med Prep this time. The V2 likes it! I got a great close and comfortable shave.

Excellent piece at a ridiculously good price. Reminds me a lot (hint hint) of the Parker 26c.
