Thanks William,

I find that a 10k or 12k before a jnat finisher to be a very good option.

Cheers, Steve

Steve,

I had been wanting to get a higher grit synthetic for awile to give some folks I hone for choices, I was going to jump to a Shapton 16K after the 8K but was advised that might be to big of a jump and then I came across a NN 12K used for a fanrtastic price and even got a 1K as a bounus I can use for knives and also have also been eye balling the SG 20K as I have heard great things about it and it would be after the 12K but I have to admit it's going to be hard to beat the Nakayama Kiita finish as it's becoming my go to stone for finishing.

Another 5 in and back out on Monday including a TI gnome a diminutive 2/8 a razor I don't see that often, not a razor I enjoy honing or stropping although I will be the first to admit it really did take a very nice edge.

One of mine a NOS Mitsuon 3000 came in from Japan yesterday, as with all NOS that come my way they all must pay a visit to the 8K 12K and finally the 20K, haven't yet come across an edge that doesn't shave better after a visit to the Suehiro Gokumyo 20K.

It has been a while since I did full progression and as a rare treat, I had a few spare Sunday hours. Thanks fall back time change. I  had these four German blades waiting there turn. Bevel set on 3K, refined on 4 and 8k. The two 6/8 blades finished on Coti with oil. The 7/8 and 8/8 finished on my unknown hone ( porcelain white Ark?) that leaves a edge as good as any of my Arks. Stroped on Tony Miller leather.

Had a full session with this Dovo, when i received it in the edge looked like a comb as it was pretty jagged and the edge was rolled badly so killed the edge and did a bevel reset on a Chosera 1K then mid work was Shapton GS 4/8K and finish was a NN 12K followed with a Nakayama Kiita with tomo slurry and then linen/leather stropping

Been quite awhile like over a year since I had a honing session for me with multiple razors which are all mine, so since it was a tad chilly out and nothing to do I took advantage of some spare time and did a full progression on all.

Refreshed a Henckels & Hammesfahr and a Wilhelm Mandt on a purple slate. I have been told it is either a Vosgienne or a Vermont slate. Whichever it is, it delivers a close comfortable shave

William,

That's what most of the razors that come in on a weekly basis for honing are a mixed bunch, and If I'm honest that's how I like it.
