I just started using my Americana XL and what I found was that most shaving soap tubs are too small to get a comfortable load going. So I just took a handful of soaps that were under 50% and mixed them together in a Pyrex container that's sufficient in size to swirl this 34mm monster around in. This is a mixture of:
B&M Latha original scent
AOS sandalwood tallow (grated)
AOS lavender tallow (grated)
Haslinger Coconut (grated)
Mystic Waters Coconut
The texture is medium hard, kind of like a puck of B&M or Mike's (maybe a little harder). The scent is pleasant, and they are all quality soaps that I would be using anyways. Now they're in a container that's way easier to use. The two shaves I've used this for have been excellent!

I haven't really mixed different brands, but I have heard some have had success doing it.
I use Pyrex bowls a lot for test batches. The main problem for me is the sloped sides. They seem to cause a bit of a mess. The 6-oz plastic tubs that many artisan soaps come in have extra space and a nice lip that makes the cleaner. Maybe save some empties to make your end "product" easier to use.

Some gentlemen are doing this with creams.
I don't like mixing different scents from different products, so I am not a fan and I wouldn't do it.
About your mix, I really can't imagine how Latha's anise scent could match with Coconut and Sandalwood. It must be very strange and a scent with no character, in my opinion.

I guess I'm lucky that scent isn't a top priority for me. Of course I like a pleasant scent but it's not a 'love it or leave it' type situation for me.

I've never thought about that benefit when using shave sticks. I might have to give this a try!

I mix one cream and one soap. Not always but often.
It's called superlather and means I always get a great lather.
But I try to find scents that compliment each other and do not 'work against each other'
If I have a hard time finding a cream or soap that will compliment a given product I use either my neutral Xpex or my neutral Mühle organic cream in the mix.
But I'm a total fragrance head, and I also often mix fragrances - so have a solid base and nose experience as a fundament.

I often load my brush with a scented soap for ~10-12 seconds and then continue loading with unscented. Mixing brands is a non-issue. I find loading like that cuts the scent dramatically. It satisfies my wanting to use my scented soaps while (slightly) placating swmbo's dislike of my scented soaps.

Be warned as you may find it a bit addicting and you may not go back to loading your brushes on pucks.

I respect that totally, Mr. Purist

I would have to say that I am one, also. I have never combined two different soaps for shaving.
