I've been thinking about picking up a puck of Czech & Speake but can't decide on a scent.  What's your favorite?

Oxford & Cambridge is more pleasant and better balanced to my nose. Some ingredient in the No. 88 base seems to clash slightly with the fragrance.

O&C is my favorite scent in shaving. 88 smells like clay. Maybe I had a bad puck.

I also get the clay note in No. 88, and this is what seems to be interfering with my sense of the fragrance as a whole. O&C is divine.

I started with the #88 and did not like how it smelled at all, so I traded it away. I then got a puck of O&C and liked it very much. Recently a had a chance to smell the 88 again and my perception has changed. I liked it to the degree that I just got myself another puck.

For me the 88 required some time to get used to and to appreciate, while I liked the O&C from the first sniff.

Looks like I'll be getting a puck of O & C.  Will a refill puck fit in my DR Harris bowl?  Thanks!!!

No. 88 is a much more complicated scent. Bergamot, moss, rose, etc. For me, it is worth the price due to its originality.
I didn't find O&C to be very interesting, especially when compared to No. 88.

I'm in the camp of O&C as well. I really tried to like No.88 for a long time but it just never clicked with me. To me O&C is the absolute BEST lavender scent in shaving.

I have not been impressed by the scent of the 88.

I own both.
Let me put it this way.

For the regular nose, O&C is the way to go.

For the fragrance head, 88 is the way to go.

Begging your pardon Claus, but I'm a fraghead and I prefer O&C. I can see how one might appreciate No. 88, and I do enjoy the uniqueness of the EDT, but the scent in the soap seems like it clashes with something clay-like in the soap base.

It was just a generalisation.

Of course not all frag heads will like 88, but in general niche frag heads will enjoy 88 more than O&C, which is a rather easy going scent for the masses.

88 is a dark gothic rose scent, that I also own in the Eau de Parfum version. An acquired taste.

Quite right. Maybe I haven't acclimated to the No. 88 scent enough. I remember when I first tried the EDT - I hated it! Over time it grew on me though.

Excellent summation on all points, here quoted.
I'll add, when I use No. 88 I almost feel like I'm dreaming... very aromatic effect for me.  Can't think of another that does the same, to that kind of level.

Performance between the two seemed to be equal - and I prefer the scent of 88.

No. 88 is my favorite scent of all shave soap scents, but it is not for everyone. It is a complex scent, but the undertones are a rose oud. If you don't like oud, you won't like No. 88.

O&C for me. I disliked the 88 scent and sold it, even though I am a fan of Rose. The Lavender in the O&C is divine.

Agreed. The lavender in O&C is lovely.
For me the O&C is the light, happy & easy going shaving soap, while the 88 is the dark, mildly melancholic, blue & serious shaving soap.

No.88: dark and complex, rose/florals/woods.
O&C: lavender/peppermint/rosemary.

No.88 is quite possibly my single favourite soap scent. The quality of the lavender in O&C is excellent, but the overall scent is too herbal for my liking. YMMV.
