27 Feb 2016 Get Together

It's Official!! Triangle Area Get Together 27 Feburary 2016 Carolina Brewery Pittsboro, NC about 10:30am until about 3:00pm

It will be mostly about honing but we may have a few few demonstrations about pinning, scale making, etc.. All are welcome. If you wish bring a few items you wish to trade, sell, give away and we will have time and space for that. However that isn't the main idea of the get together. Looking forward to seeing everybody then. Please advise either Nipper (Joe Neer) or Lindyhop66 (Robert Smith) if you plan on attending.

I will give this a sticky so it stays at the top of the list until  February 27th.  Hope you have a good meeting.

Plan on being there too!  Should have a decent turn out hopefully.  Great food and comradery makes for a pleasant day!  And razors help at that as well!

Okay.............here is what is in the making for a drawing/raffle minus the money donation. I will be preparing a banded boar 24mm knot brush in a spalted Tamarind hardwood.

Hope all that attend will like the design seeing that I have not figured that one out yet! It will even be a surprise to me and the lathe as well.

So hopefully this will be ready for the drawing in just over a week. I will post Friday the night before our meet the finished turned brush here on the page for all to see.

This looks very cool and fun! I wish Kansas City (or my home city New Orleans) could do the same!

I started this North Carolina group to meet up with other straight razor people and you could start the same where you live.  I just started a thread asking for interest in a meetup on SRP and a few other sites.  I found a place to meet and set a date and so we've grown for 5 years.

And what a great job you have done my friend.  I think the NC meets are some of the best and most organized.

Here is one I finished up but not the one that will be given away in the drawing.  This one will go in my rotation for use with the scuttle and creams!

Spalted Tamarind wood with a 22mm full synthetic knot.  Very soft and soothing!

"Cheerwine" is curing!

Here is the giveaway brush for our meet on 2-27-2016.  It is set with a 24mm banded boar knot that is stiff but yet has purpose with those folks that like a stiffer brush.  It came along fine other than acrylic being a bear to turn down!

Hope the lucky winner will like the brush and use it in great health!

Beautiful work.  I'll have some straights on fire sale $20-$40 each and some free after shaves, soaps and creams...etc.

I just want to note the I started the meet up group but for the last few years Joe Neer, nipper on SRP and BB, has gotten it together and found our meeting site.   He also gets together with one or two members  when we aren't having a meet up.

We have people who know a lot about honing and hones, lapping film, scale-making, lathering and shaving techniques.  Hours go by quickly.  Good food, good service, a great room with windows all around for good light for photos and great conversation.

See you folks tomorrow.  I will be there until about two o'clock then have to leave.  But that will give plenty of time to mingle and meet!

I will leave this thread sticked until the evening of the 29th in case any of you want to post comments or pictures.  After that, it will be put in with the rest of the straight razor threads.
