Emperor 3, personally I wouldn't want the knot to be any smaller...

Man that looks so nice. Something about the Emperor is really appealing. How is the performance? Good? I'm also going to get a Duke 3, but the Emperor is certainly on my wishlist.

Emperor! I only really yearn for 4 or 5 brushes and that's one of 'em

E3.  Check out the Superior Shave's web-site http://thesuperiorshave.com/Simpsons_Brushes.html#E2  .  There's not a great deal of difference in the knot sizes but I prefer the longer and slightly wider E3 handle.  I have one with a 53mm loft and that makes it feel like a far larger brush.

I was fortunate enough to have added Ben's Emperor 3 Manchurian recently and have owned a Somerset Emperor 3 Super (3 band) and Emperor 2 Super (2 band). I didn't have them all at the same time, so I'm not able to provide a visual side by side but among the knots  and physical sizes. I much more prefer the Emperor 3 size significantly more in all aspects, from knot to handle size. The E2 I found the knot a bit small, but consider this thought skewed since it was with a 2 band offering so the loft was shorter coupled with the bulb shaped made the face feel very small, it may be better in Super with the longer loft but didn't get around to try that. With regards to the Somerset E3, it was very nice quality knot with a superb handle with much character but I found the loft a wee bit too high so it became a paintbrush motion only brush and excelled at bowl/mug lathering, both the E3 Somerset & E2 2 band have found new homes and the E3 Manchurian I feel is perfect compliment of handle and knot.

They're all too small for me.  I'd need an Emperor-4, or 5. Biggrin

Yea they're all relatively small sized brushes with the biggest only being a 23mm knot... Lovely looking handle though, the PJ2 even felt bigger than the E2, but if your into smaller brushes it's a looker of a brush... a Emperor 4 or 5 would be great!
