I've noticed a number of SOTD posts mentioning using Mugso Real Lime Glycerin soap as a pre-shave. I assume that it's a great product because so many folks seem to have adopted it as their pre-shave.

What's your experience with MRGLO?

What do you think of the new Razo Rock Lime Glycerin soap in comparison to MRGLO?

I have some of the RazoRock in my cart (just waiting for Joe to get back from vacation). I too bought MRGLO after seeing so many folks on here use it and it does work very well.

I use the Musgo Real product every morning before I shave and have been doing so for the past two years. Does a good job of cleaning and preparing my skin for the shave. I have a new bar of the the Proraso glycerin soap that I will be trying next.

I use both soaps, they both work just as good. You won't be disappointed.

Another on that uses Mr. Glo with excellent results.
I've tried it back to back with other glycerin bars,(Neutrogena,Purpose,Basis,Pears) and find Mr. Glo to be superior at softening the beard.
BTW, I shave before I shower if that helps in any way.

Interestingly, the best pre-shave product that I've ever used is Proactiv Wash. It's a benzoyl peroxide (only 2.5%) wash that has exfoliating beads in it and it's meant for acne prone skin but I find that it leaves my face silky smooth and does not dry me out at all. In fact, it moisturizes better than any face wash product that I've ever tried and more importantly, it softens the beard better than anything out there for me. It also has the added benefit of helping with ingrown hairs/razor bumps and mild acne if anyone has that. (No affiliation, just happy I found it).

YMMV of course but it's the oddest shaving find that I've made to date.

I haven't used either and don't want to hijack the thread, but I use Ach Brito Glyce soap, made by the same people who make MRGLO and a little less expensive, and it works quite well.

I bought mine at the Portugal Online Shop (http://www.theportugalonlineshop.com/hea...g-grooming). They also carry the MRGLO. You can find both on eBay at times too, but be sure to compare prices.

I just use soap. Kirks Castille is good. I tried Mr Glo and did not see any improvement over regular coconut soap. The castor oil and Adeps Suillus (lard) may increase the lather. But $1.00 vs $8.00, I pick regular soap. Any soap is good if you just let it sit on your beard for a minute or two before rinsing to strip the facial oils off and soften the beard

Mr GLO -Water, Coconut Oil, Alcohol, Adeps Suillus, Sucrose, Sodium Hydroxide, Castor Seed Oil, Fragrance, Limonene, Sodium Carbonate

Kirk's Castille - Coconut Soap, Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Coconut Oil, Natural Fragrance

Thanks all,

I've been simply using Yardley soap on my face in the shower, but noticed a certain trend here. Unashamedly, I'll say that the Mugso Real Glyce Lime simply looks cool.

I tried to order a puck of MRGLO from Bullgoose, but Phil seems to be out of stock. I shot him an email asking when he'll have it back in stock.

I'm a fan of this product. The scent is better than other glycerin soaps I've used.

I see the ingredients are the same in both soaps. Are there any differences or are these the exact same soaps?

have you tried MRGLO or the ach brito soap to compare it to what you use?

I'm just curious because the soap you linked to seems to be much cheaper than the other stuff people are talking about.

I'd heard about this pre-shave soap some time ago. It wasn't till recently, when I read Daves interview where Phil (Bullgoose) said he pretty much likes to mix it up; all but the Musgo soap.

So I got a puck from him a couple of weeks ago and have never looked back. I'm an older fart that still showers in the morning, but my shave is before supper.

I wet my washcloth; scrub in a little soap, and then scrub my face. I let it sit for a minute and rinse. Pre-shave oils are done.Thumbsup

Just a small add-on: The wifey unit is seeing a little extra wear on the cloths.

I don't know. Leisureguy has noted on his blog that the Ach Brito is lighter in color than MRGLO. Perhaps they differ in concentrations of some of the ingredients.
