I finally found some Personna 74 Tungsten DE blades at a reasonable price. I used my first one this morning in my Fat Boy. I got an excellent, smooth, close, nick free shave. I am anxious to see how it does from here.

Wow. If they last a month, that's quite a few shaves you've got in those three packs!

I have a little  more than a hundred of the Pluses and just under that of the originals and my cost per blade was under $1.44. My first ones were way under that.

I keep hearing how great these blades are/were.  Got me to wondering why in the world they were discontinued, and why they haven't be manufactured again?

Probably because they last 20+ shaves, and there isn't exactly a booming market for safety blades to begin with. I get 6 or 7 out of a current Personna and it costs $0.20 at most (If I buy from 99c Only stores). Would you pay a buck a blade for a DE? That's what Energizer (they own Personna) would want to charge to compensate for fewer units sold.

I'm interested in how many shaves Bob gets from one of these.

I have one in my Fat Handle Tech and it's on #16, I get 25+ every time. I usually change just because I want to use something else, not because it needs it.

I hit 15 shaves on my current blade.  It definitely isn't as smooth as my preferred Wilkies, but its still delivering BBS results!

Nothing's smoother or sharper for me. Light Brigades are the only thing that matches it.....for me.....

I just finished the 20th shave on my blade mentioned previously.  I am still getting very close results, but it isn't enjoyable as the blade feels a bit harsh.  It was interesting to see how the blade feel changed from razor to razor and I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more life out of it if I wanted, but I prefer buttery smooth feel to longevity.

"but I prefer buttery smooth feel to longevity." So do I, that's why I use the 74's. I get the best of all worlds. Smoothest, (except for possibly Wilkies Light Brigades) sharpest, longest lasting.

I am changing razors every 5-6 shaves. So far, it truly shines in the Slim. I have had excellent shaves from day one though. #19 this morining.

I am calling it today on shave #27 with the Personna 74 Tungsten Plus blades. I used this blade in three different razors over the 27 days. I have not had any tugging or nicks in any of the shaves. All have been smooth and close. The last two days I did start to notice some dulling and had to do a bit more clean up than normal. These blades certainly do live up to their reputation! I waited a long time to find some at a reasonable price, under $1.00 per blade. At that price level, these cost less per shave than most of my other rotation blades, assuming an average of 4 shaves per blade.

My 27th shave set-up.

I loaded one yesterday into my Feather AS D2. Smoother than my usual Gillette Spoilers. Very comfortable DFS with two passes and a quick buff for touch ups.

I'll have shave #2 on it shortly today in an ATT R1 on a Jurgen Hemple UFO Ti handle.

These Personna 74’s are the real deal. Today was my 21st shave with this blade, the second I have used. I stopped using the first one after shave #27.
