I love my Montal's too, and also my Mancera (very close to each other, think they are related somewhat these two houses), but even though I really love Intense Cafe, Dark Aoud, Red Aoud, Oud Cuir D'Arabie, Blue Amber and Red Vetiver, I could not quite push them into this list. They are definitely top quality, especially for the price you pay for them, but I don't think they can beat the 5 + 1 niche houses I have mentioned.

But definitely a GREAT house. I also happen to enjoy Parfums de Marly and Jovoy Paris highly, and they almost also made it to my niche house list. I plan to purchase at least 2 Jovoy and 3 Parfums de Marly fragrances this year to add to my collection. Montale IMHO has not been making any new ground breaking fragrances in the last 2-3 years, not since Intense Cafe, which I why they could not make the list.
Montale did make Honey Aoud last year, but I much prefer my Floris Private Collection Honey Oud to the Montale Honey Aoud.

But I definitely have high respects for Montal, and always look to get a good deal on one of their many many fragrances.

I actually prefer the reformulated version of Epic Man (magnetic cap), because it's far more wearable for me. I still get 8-10 SOLID hours longevity, the old one was just too beastly for me.
I also own the reformulated Interlude Man (magnetic cap) and this still is a very powerful fragrance, giving me a solid 12-16 hours longevity and strong projection.
On my jackets/coats and scarfs I can still smell Interlude Man for weeks after I have used it...........

I dislike a lot of reformulations, but in the case with Amouage, they - at least in the cases I know of - did a good job.
I have heard Reflection Man in the reformulated version is watered down, but I own the old version of it (NO magnetic cap) and love it. It's SOOOOOO strong, yet still so pleasant smelling.
Comparing Reflection Man to JPG Le Male is like comparing Mitchell Wool Fat shaving soap to Williams shaving soap, and saying they perform and smell identically.

My favourites so far:

Godolphin - More fruity version of TF Tuscan Leather
Herod - Arguably my favourite tobacco scent in front of By Killian Back to Black, Mugler Pure Havane and TF Tobacco Vanille
Habdan - Sweet apple, vanilla and woody blend. Smells fantastic on my GF, and she loves it on me.
Oajan - Hermés Ambre Narguilles with added honey notes. Love this scent. Is it a clone ? Perhaps, but what a great one it is.
Lippizan - Aramis & Lauder done right and modern. Great work scent.
Pegasus - A more refined stronger version of Midnight in Paris (I own both the EDT & EDP of MiP, and Pegasus beats both versions no contest)

Parfums de Marly did not make the list, because they do seem to make many fragrances, that some call clones, but IMHO this is not the correct word.
Bond No.9 make clones, Parfums de Marly make better more refined versions of both older and newer scents. And they all have a stamp on them saying 'hmmmm....smells familiar, but this Marly is just on another higher level'

I don't know if they actually had a house; but every American home once held these collectable bottles of fragrance from that lady in the 57 Chevy Nomad
who would ring and announce AVON CALLING Wave1

The problem with 'top' houses is one classic scent discovered makes that maker yours.
