I saw this elsewhere but no thread on TSN yet. Mr. Fine claims to have found the Tabac base, and has added his own American Blend scent to it.

For $12.50 I will give it a shot when it arrives, but figured "why not start the hype now?!"
If true, or even close, it would be a very nice soap. I like that his products have a retro look, first the Rubberset brush handle and now the "Williams' style" packaging of the upcoming soap.

I love Tabac, scent and all, and I'm pretty keen to have the same performance in the American Blend scent. I'll probably pick up a Stout synth brush and one of his slants while I'm at it. Hopefully Italian Citrus is back in stock by that time too.

I may take a look at the soap but not holding my breath on Italian Citrus. He's been saying he should have it in just a few months since he's been out. For that reason I've used mine sparingly. Down to half a bottle.

I have had a love hate relationship with Tabac. Recently we are back in love. I couldn't resist the deals over at perfumania so I bought some and have been using it since. I did stuff a puck in a marvy rubber shave mug and let it sit. As it sits, the scent -- with which I have had my ups and downs with -- has mellowed and rounded. This is a bold statement for me, but as I have been using it daily, it is becoming clearer to me that it is the best soap I have ever used (I have used many of the top end soaps and creams, including SMN, BP, ABC, XPEC, AdP, MdC and many of the top artisan brands as well). Lathers incredibly easy with a nice thick and cushiony lather that also provides great slip. It can be lathered as easily with a nice inexpensive omega boar as it is with a high end badger and is so consistent in its performance it isn't funny. For me it has always been the scent that has kept it from being the Giada de Laurentiis of shaving soaps. If the Fine soap is truly a Tabac base, I may never use another soap. I am a bit excited and a bit mad because I told myself I wasn't buying anything shaving related for the rest of 2016, but I have to try it.

Yes I asked him and he said American blend is first then the other scenes will follow suppose to have his full line up in the soap

I don't know any of the Fine scents personally. Is it true that AB is inspired by Barbasol? If so I might wait for a different scent, too. Not that Barbasol is bad, just not special in my opinion. Still better than Tabac though.

And what if one dislikes the Tabac scent? Tabac does not smell like Fine American Blend.

But in a nutshell, Fine claims his new soap is a clone of the Tabac formula, meaning the same quality lather, but replacing the original scent with his.
I'm sorry I'm confused. why is the tabac Base even mentioned if the end product isn't going to smell like tabac. It should just be a fine accoutrements soap scented like one of their aftershaves.
