Hello all, Dave "Slawman" Huffman here from St. Joseph Illinois. I have been into things sharp ever since I was a blacksmith & made R.R.spike & cable pattern welded knives back in the 80's & early 90's. Gave up the black arts due to Carpal & cubital tunnel problems. But now I am getting the itch to start forging knives & razors. So far I have been buying  vintage razors & strops & barbers hones & also water hones & learning how to use them. I am always open to questions about forging & power hammers & if I don't know the answer I probably know someone who does. Geezer on here is a friend from SRP.
 Let's talk Razors & stuff!

The "Slawman" handle came from my day's of being active on a vintage & custom drum forum. I have played drums since 1965. Anyway we were based out of Indy. The first owner of the forum owned a drum shop there for many years. After he closed the business some of the members kept the site going & we used to have a get together a couple of times a year. One year we got together at a good friends place & we were all to bring a dish to share. I have always loved vinegar cole slaw Like my Grandma used to make. It's pretty simple but really tasty . I like sour & strong flavors. Anyway everyone really liked my slaw so the name was born & I have had it at drumforum.com eversince. Not real active over there much these days. Have some health issues that make it hard to play gig's st the moment but I hope to get my right knee replaces soon so I can get back to playing & hauling drums.
I would love to trade cole slaw recipes if anyone is interested. I got a new smoker for my birthday & I can't wait to smoke some meat. I like pork loin, chicken & ribs best.

  Thanks for the warm welcome,
   Dave"Slawman" Huffman Smile

Welcome. I know for me I started out sharpening blades, then teaching people to sharpen. That turned into me criticizing every knife I had .

Started doing regrinds and let led into " pimping" knIves as they called it. Old saying in knife making you need 2 million if you want to make a million is true. Hobby paid for itself for the longest and I got to handle some pieces otherwise I never would have.

May get back in it as I have a design in my head that nobody is making right now the circumstances and applications of its use all that makes me want to go out and replace everything I sold.

Ever wanna chat hit me up. Got friends in the knife world so if your looking for equipment I may could find you or know a friend of a friend that could .
