Up for sale are a set of King/Ice bear synthetic water sharpening stones.  This would make for a nice package for someone who wants to enter the world of straight-razor sharpening, from setting the bevel to the finished edge.

Included are the following stones (dimensions approximate):

King 1000, 2-5/8" x 8-1/4" x 3/4"
Ice Bear 4000, 2-1/2" x 7-1/4" x 3/4"
Ice Bear 6000, 2-1/2" x 7-1/4" x 3/4"
Ice Bear 8000, 2-1/2" x 7-1/4" x 3/4"

These have only seen a little bit of use.  As such, they are a little bit musty upon drying out; that's the nature of the beast here, and these stones should not be stored back into their boxes until they have completely dried out. The 1000 needs about a 20 minute soak before use; the 4000 and 6000, perhaps around 10 minutes; and the 8000, around 2-5 minutes.  Use 325x wet/dry sandpaper on a 1/4" thick glass to lap them as needed for starters.

Were I new to honing, here's how I would approach things:

1000 to set the bevel, 6000 to finish.  Extended strop on linen and leather.  Try to achieve the best edge possible with just 1000 and 6000 for starters.  Once this is achieved, then move to 1000 to set the bevel, 4000 to refine this, and 8000 to finish, with less stropping on linen and leather.  Once this has been achieved, move to 1000, 4000, 6000, 8000 as needed.

The bottom line:

New, these stones currently cost $164.72, plus shipping.  I am asking $115 for the set, including shipping to CONUS (other places can be arranged via PM).  And no, I will not break up the set to sell these individually.
