I've read the love/hate that goes around this soap stick. It was cheap, so I picked one up.
I can not get a nice lather out of this. It's very light and airy, like lathering a bar of bath soap. The lather would dry on my face and the bubbles would pop, leaving nothing but a faint soap film. This would happen in about 20 seconds too. I was constantly reapplying the lather until the lather in the brush dried out. I did get a 2 pass shave out of it, but I won't be using it again!
The stick is also hard and dry like chalk. I couldn't get it to transfer from the stick to my stubble. This has probably got to be the worst soap I've tried so far.
It is the tallow version as well.
On the plus side, I love the scent. Very nice, I just wish the soap worked.
This stuff is so bad, I don't even think it's worth a PIF!

For what it's worth, I picked some up. I grated it into a twist up shave stick container and use it when I travel. While I can't get any lather out of it; it is very slick and gives me a decent shave so I don't need to worry about bringing a brush. I prefer it to canned foam or gel because it's more compact and less prone to TSA scrutiny but works very well in that regard.

The shave wasn't horrible, it was just the lack of lather that threw me off my game. The little lather that I did get, before it disappeared, was very much like the suds you get in the kitchen sink from a cheap, off-brand dish washing detergent; Very light and airy. Not the thick, rich lather we expect. This will be going in the trash. Luckily it was about $1, so no big deal. I just started a love affair with shave sticks, and wanted to try these. I did pick up some more LEA sticks (LOVE the performance, scent is so-so) and Palmolive sticks with this Erasmic order, so not all is lost.

Yeah, sounds about the same as the one I have. I love the scent of it. I still use it as a travel stick; works great. I use it with a disposable razor. I had had it with TSA scrutiny while checking in my carry on - they'd recognize the DE razor but would have to verify that there was no blade inserted. Anyways, it works OK for me. I had emailed Erasmic about their crappy lather and they said that they were going to change the percentages in their formula which would result in a latherable product but once bitten, twice shy.

Life's too short for lousy lather.
Shaun's probably right though. I have really hard water and simply hated the Erasmic stick when I tried it. Definitely a factor in which soaps will work for me or not.
I have a whole home water softener; I couldn't get it to lather either. Well I could; but the lather would be airy and dissipate. I believe they changed their formula at one point for the worse. Not sure if they've fixed it yet.

I remember liking the Erasmic stick initially. I thought the scent was classy, and the price certainly spoke in its favor. I soon learned the performance was far below average however, and in the end I stopped bothering with it. Despite it's low price, the price to performance ratio is very poor, in my opinion.
