Simpsons Emperor 3 Manchurian

[attachment=4044]

Knot: 20 x 48mm

Filled with "the finest Manchurian High Mountain White Badger Hair,"
the Emperor is undeniably "a classic and a bowl latherers dream."

[attachment=4045]

A brief soak...

[attachment=4046]

A quick dip in Simpsons Unscented Cream...

[attachment=4047]

The slim handle (and Large Simpsons Shaving Mug) make lathering child's play..

[attachment=4048]

Abundant quality lather in no time...

[attachment=4049]
Minimal bloom...

This was my first use or the Emperor 3 Manchurian.
The handle is the most comfortable I've ever held.
The usually clanking around the scuttle was non existent.
The diminutive girth (coupled with the generous size of the Simpsons shaving mug)
made bowl lathering easy, comfortable and expedient.
The knot has outstanding shape retention.
The backbone is undeniably present.
Yet the tips were extremely soft.
Sensation is evident, but only as a result of the strength of the individual hairs.
The knot is not over stuffed.
It's dense, but not too dense.
Subsequently it exhibits much better than average flow through.

The combination of the incredibly ergonomic handle and
a knot possessing the best of 2 band and 3 band offerings,
makes this a truly outstanding brush.

No bowl latherer should be without one!

The Emperor handle is superb. I think the only one superior to it is the Beaufort, which only comes in Pure. Beaufort B6 in Manchurian maybe??? hahaha

Very nice write up Ben.

You just use that brush, raise those three lovely kids, and I will enjoy looking at your pictures. My little collection of Semogue brushes are doing a fine job of applying lather to my face. But, if I ever hit the lottery, look out.Smile

I'll keep working on all those things including the lottery! And if I win, I'll buy you one!

@Ben.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photos and sentiments.

Do you feel any remorse for the SBAD flare-ups that resulted?
Wink:-)

Ben, I have a Somerset E3 in Super 3-band. An outstanding but very different brush than this. Still, I consider it an excellent face lathering brush because of the comfort of the handle.

Nice write up and pics.

Wow, I'd love see a pic of that Somerset E3 Andrew!

And, speaking of great face lathering brushes, I used my Chubby 1 Manchurian for the first time today!

It's an amazing little brush! Review soon...

Great brush but that Simpsons cream looks like a great performer. Thats a lot of lather for the amount of product used. I wonder if it comes scented as well.

Hi Ray, as you say the Beaufort B6 handle is wonderful, I asked Mark @ Vulfix to make me one in Super "my ToGo brush & also a Keyhole KH4 in super.

Now this has got me thinking re Emperor 3, great review Ben.

As requested:

And for comparison, next to a Vulfix-made Emperor 2:

And for fun, next to two of my other favorite Simpsons handles:
