Jabonman is a Spanish soap maker who is a member of foroafeitado.com, and decided to jump in and create his own shaving soaps. After a period of experimenting,he has created some of the best artisan made shaving soaps out there.
I do receive emails/pm's asking me about his soaps, and I can only say, "they are fantastic".
Jabonman doesnt use tallow on his soaps, but is another proof that good soaps dont need tallow. However,he uses lanolin and shea butter in many of them,as well as essential oil of fist grade quality.
The consistency of the soap is like a hard shaving cream,so we can call them "croaps" but a little bit harder than an Italian "croap",for example.
Its easy to make lather with them, and the lather is super thick as well as very, very slick. If you shave with straight razor and are looking for a slick soap,Jabonman could be one of the choices. The skin care properties are top, like Calani shaving soaps.Enough said.
Here is a video showing how to make lather from a Jabonman shaving soap (the Jabonman foroafeitado.com one) :
And here you can find a lot of pics of the Tierra Humeda (Wet Soil) shaving soap (sorry,is in Spanish, but you can see the pics )
Jabonman Tierra Humeda jabon de afeitar.
The soaps comes on a metalic jar, with a 100ml of soap, which is perfect if you travel.
I have tried several Jabonman shaving soaps in the last year and I can tell you a little bit about them.
-Jabonman Tierra Humeda (Wet Soil) : this soap smells like a deep, earthy Vetiver, and fresh. Its not like the Cyril R Salter French Vetiver shaving cream, which scent is on the "smoky" side. No,this one smells like a deep, fresh Vetiver on the woody side.
-Jabonman Violetas (Violet).Smells like fresh Violets, with a hint of other florals, like roses.Perfect if you like that kind of scent.
-Jabonman Brisa de Oriente (Oriental Breeze) : spicy, fresh and woody.Very aromatic, with some deep notes.Another favorite one.
-Jabonman Lavanda (Lavender) : smells like fresh lavender,on the spicy side.
-Jabonman foroafeitado edition : for me ,the best of his creations. This soap was created for foroafeitado.com and has petit grain with some floral and woody notes, which makes it a complex scent, very manly but not "macho man" and on the fresh side of scents.
If you wanna contact Jabonman, let me know,or go to his space at foroafeitado.com : http://www.foroafeitado.com/foro/jabonma...tero-8173/
The soaps are quiet cheap for what they are,but the shipping cost could be a little bit expensive from Spain. However,is worth it to try one of these "hidden gems".
Thanks a lot for your effort,Jabonman (Manuel) and very well done.

Well, its an option,as well as let him create a The Shave Nook shaving soap edition, but that could be problematic.

Around 5 ,50 euros per shaving soap.

Quote: I will
If he was a member here, then it would not be problematic for The Shave Nook edition.

With the board's position on Group purchases clarified, this is the relevant topic at this time.
Looks like an interesting soap there this 'Soapman'. Lather looks similar in consistency to Dr. Selby's - though I've only seen Selby's in video...

Good writeup. I really appreciate these obscure gems and they almost always turn out to be great performers. One of my favorites is Mon Savon and PDP happens to be the one I like the least. I know someone in Spain and he recently sent me a rather large pack of the local shave supplies including creams, soaps and AS. I'll definitely try to acquire some Jabonman soon.
