for 2 or 3 of my shaves a week I take my time for my shave, and use 2 razors, a mild and an aggressive, a shaving cream and a shaving soap for my superlather and now also two brushes, just to feel that I really use all my shaving gear to the max  Biggrin

I tend to get a bit irritated skin, when I face lather for 3 passes and touch ups, so have started to experiment a bit, face lathering with my badger for the 1.st pass plus the only pass I do for my dome, then bowl lather for 2.nd and 3.rd pass with one of my 3 synthetics or now one of my 6 boars.
This is NOT for the fast morning shave, this is for when I have the time to do a long medidative relaxing shave.

Just received my 6 boars today, 3 Omega's and 3 Semogue's - and I thought this forum now is mostly about badgers and synthetics, so why not give this sub forum a little pig style  Piggy_214 SmiliePig

Lovely boars.  I am taking the March Madness one soap for one month challenge and also personally committed to using the new SOC Boar I picked up.  It is breaking in nicely and I admit it may become a daily user for me.  I like the scrub, though I see what you mean when you say a 3 pass shave face lathering could be irritating.  I am hoping that dies down as the brush breaks in.  That said, it really is a nice brush with a great ergonomic handle.  I wish the handle was not wood, but....some Rolling Stones lyrics here.

I have two boars, Semogue 820 and Zentih 28/50, in rotation. I have serious skin sensitivity issues and what I do is I face-lather using mostly paint-strockes when my skin in not in good shape or am trying a new soap/cream that am not sure if it will give me a skin reaction. I don't like bowl lather.
IME, my skin does not react differently to boars (after 10-20 wet/dry cycles) vs synthetic vs badger. Lather does come out a little different but its mostly a matter of the sensory experience.

Well, if you are going to shave with a pig, you need a pig scuttle. Smile

It is very small but I do use it now and then.  It was given to me for my birthday a few years back by a very dear member.

Can't go wrong with a good boar, Claus. I have a B&B LE boar and a SOC boar. Both are great performers. Once a good boar is broken in it can rival darn near any of the best badgers!

Semogue 830 and 1305 are my favorite brushes. SOC boar is also an excellent brush, but it's a little big for my tastes so I don't use it much.

My favorite boar brush is by the Body Shop.

The handle says , 'FSC 100% Wood'.
