Does anyone make a Single Edge Safety Razor that uses a 1/2 DE blade like a Shavette?

Correct. The SE/DE is $25 + $12 shipping to JSA IIRC.

Their DE is the one with the higher price.

To be honest, I don't know why you'd want to do this.  In my opinion, one of the main advantages of a SE (be it a "GEM" style blade, Feather A/C, or an injector) is that the thickness of the blade keeps the blade strong throughout the shave, leading to a closer shave (i.e. it doesn't "skip" or "chatter").  So you are now taking away the best qualities of a DE (ability to use both sides) but not gaining any benefit for the SE.  Why not just use one side of a DE razor?

I've said the same thing too Josh. However, I'm still curious how it actually performs. And at only $25 + shipping it isn't a large risk.

Exactly! I agree with Josh.

It's innovative but I'm not going to buy it.

All I can say is when I first saw a OneBlade I thought the head had one side that was goo looking and the rest I did not like. I thought the pivoting head would deteriorate your control over the razor, I thought the leather case and stand are expensive extras that I don't care about and would prefer not to buy (and I still do) and finally I didn't like how feathers shave on a valet. Then I read credible reviews (to my eyes) and finally decided to give it a try. Its a great razor, like its looks a little better now and really enjoy using it, even with a feather. I thought about blocking the pivoting head with a piece of rubber or something of the sorts, but it hardly ever works so haven't bothered.
In summary, you never know so keep open mind and wallet.

I used to agree with this philosophy (and still do up to a point) but then I was introduced to the Shake Sharp razor. This is a single edge razor that takes a DE blade, exposing one edge at a time.

It does not shave like a DE razor. It shaves really really well. I was more than impressed - I was downright shocked.

So, for $25 plus shipping, I will certainly give the Rocnel a shot.

That's true.  Its a pretty nice looking razor, no doubt about it.

Thank you.
It is a little more aggressive than Merkür 34. But has more clean shave. I shave one pass generally during my daily shave, enough clean for me. Easy at nose area. Needs half of a DE blade. Loading blade is very easy and safe. Rocnel will produce this razor with three different heads; mild, less aggressive and aggressive. This is called P head which is less aggressive.

Apparently the pre-order list is closed. All those who did get on it will be contacted. Those of us who did not will have to wait until they are available for sale. I forget which vendor they said would be selling them though. I'd imagine that they would sell them direct also. We will see.
