Reason of this thread is to find a cheaper alternative to he LA BBS-1. I understand a cheaper alternative may not shave as well... But maybe close.. Somewhat...
The BBS-1 has been my favorite razor for a long time and I get excellent results from it. I do travel quite often and I never have the guts to fly with it. I believe a Gillette Tech could be similar and better option to travel basement.
I am bit confused because there are so many different types of Tech's, I am sure they don't all shave the same. If anyone have found a Specific Gillette Tech (or any other razor for that matter)to shave similarly please share... Thanks all

I find most Tech's to be extremely mild.  I found the Parker 97r (similar blade gap) to be a lot closer to the BBS-1 than anything else I own.  They shave similar as well.

Take that puppy with you Biggrin. To be honest I have never found a razor similar to my BBS-1.  Good luck with the search, but I'll say get a nice leather case for it and take it with you.  Why use seconds whe #1 is at the palm of your hands Thumbsup

Thanks for the responses gents. Trust me Hector I am always tempted to snag it along. I worry the luggage will go missing or the razor gets stolen at the hotel...

Thanks for the recommendation. Would you consider the face feel similar?
I don't dislike mild razors... So a mild Tech wouldn't be a problem

I found the feel to be really similar.  It's not quite as aggressive as the BBS-1.  However, you can still feel the blade gap on your face.  It's a good razor for the price.

Sounds good to me.. Though I must admit there is something special about vintage Gillettes
