I recently bought a 1 kilo box of Crema Sapone Cella, which I've wanted to try for awhile now.  I had my first shave with it today and HOLY MACKEREL, what a shave!  I love it!  I cut a small corner off with a knife, smeared it on the bottom of a shave mug, and lathered up.  It produced copious amounts of rich, dense, almond/marzipan scented lather with great slip.  This is going to last a long time and is a great value.  Just thought I'd share my experience.  Next, I'm going to give it a go with a straight razor and see how it goes.  I have high hopes.

Cheers,
Eric

Some will say they are the same.  I have used both fairly extensively at this point and would say the brick is better.   It is not a huge huge difference but to me there is a difference and it is noticeable.

Its a great soap. Its capable of producing anything from cheap-cream-looking foam to a nice and rich lather. Just a matter of how you treat it.

Ingredients are the same, and in the same order, but the exact proportions are different, and the cure is a little different.  The difference in use between the tub and the brick is subtle but discernible.

Tub and brick are similar but slightly different. The tub is meant to be a cream, while the brick a harder (italian style soft) soap.

The brick is a terrific performer for me. Good purchase!

I have only tried the brick and I love it. Only down side is that it spoils faster than other soaps. Many almond Italian soft soaps do.  I am not saying is spoils quickly. I am saying that a Kg is a lot of soap. Its supposed to be 2 years worth of daily shaving. If you have a soap stash (as many of us do) then it may take many more years to use the entire Kg.

I have read some reviews saying that the tub and brick are the same, and others saying they are different. I have NEVER read a review saying that the tub is better. Its always the brick that out performs the tub version.

To me the brick has a better lather, seemed to give a effortless dense slick lather.

Always have a brick (or pieces of it) in my fridge. Fantastic value and a great soft soap.

I used it again today and love it.  Do you all recommend storing some in the fridge or freezer, or is it okay leaving in a cabinet as I use it?

Eric

I keep mine in a ziplock in my closet and it has held up for about a year.

Cella is great, but a brick takes me forever to get through.

The brick is harder in consistency and slightly better IMO. The tub is much softer in comparison.

Exposure to air is the brick's worst enemy. No need to keep it in the fridge, just out of heat and direct sunlight.

Zip lock bags and air tight containers are best.

Friends, we usually share the brick with 3 friends.
I think it is a better amount for 1 person. You can list a post and offer the 1/3 of the brick for some cash.
At least thats what we do usually in our local shave community

They look like parmesan cheese pieces!
I bought them several months ago, but I cut them in smaller pieces today. They are soft, it was very easy to cut them. The scent is there. Only the color has slightly changed.
