Rather than sell my Duke 3 to finance a new brush, I decided to replace the scritchy Best knot, 24x48 (as per TSS). So after a few emails back and forth with Mr. Rudy Vey I decided to go with a Shavemac 2 band silvertip knot. Rudy had a fan 25x49/50 available which was exactly what I had in mind. But wait, it gets better! I mailed the brush last Wednesday, Rudy received it on Friday, and it was in my mailbox when I GOT HOME FROM WORK ON MONDAY! 2 test lathers and a shave last night, and WOW!!!!! The Shavemac knot is the exact upgrade I sought Biggrin. I'll post post-bloom pics tonight. Thanks for looking!

Now that brush is smoking!  Congratulations, that's a great knot and Rudy is a great guy to work with.

Beautiful! Only wish Simpson could use those hairs to go with their nice handles.

That looks awesome!  Maybe I should ask Bernd to custom make a Duke style handle with that knot...!

Thanks, H. Rudy's work and turn-around greatly exceeded my expectations.

That's good looking! What are the knot's dimensions?

Thanks, jarick, for the good wishes. This new knot is "25x49/50," per Rudy. Btw, I just want to say once more what a perfect pleasure it was communicating and doing business with Mr. Vey. I'm psyched to use it again tonight!! Here it is post bloom, one shave in Biggrin

Yes, from the pictures that people post of their Simpson's Manchurian knots, I agree. The appearance of this Shavemac knot is reminiscent of that Simpson's fur. I'm quite pleased!

IMHO, the Duke 3 handle is a top 5 when it comes to "in hand" feel.

I know, right? It's got a ring to it.

Yes, I agree. For hand feel it's up there with my SOC 2 band. If those are 1A and 1B, then my CH2 and 59 are close at #2. Having never used one, I can only imagine that a 58 is probably a very comfy feeling brush, however the knot is smaller than I prefer nowadays.
