Hi guys, since yesterday was my b-day, i was looking at getting a new brush or knot.

So my question is, as of right now, current batches, who has the best silvertip knots? The best quality knots. I dont want any scritch or scratch. Talking about places like whippedddog, TGN, or any other in that range.

Also, who has the best quality 2-band knots right now, same artisan type places? Again no scritch or scratch.

Will be face and bowl lathering but i definitely want soft tips. Have a Duke 2 so i have something to face lather with if need be. Not worried about handle and will probably get 22-24mm size. And shavemacs are to expensive for me right now.
Thanks for your opinions.

If you seek zero scritch, my experience says, Epsilon 2 or 3 band or Shavemac 2 band silvertip; these are even softer than my CH2 super. They're past your price range, but save up... they're definitely worth every penny.

Yeah im trying to keep the prixe down but i would love to get a shavemac, and one day but not right now, cause i recently just got a Duke 2 best.

So what is the difference in the TGN Hmw, premium silvertip, super silvertip and grade A silvertip?

What is the difference in the Finest and Finest F2?

Also does how does knots from TGN and whipped dog compare quality wise?

I know its a lot of questions, so thanks for taking your time to help me out.

I only have three 2 band knots; Epsilon, Shavemac and Semogue Owners Club. The Shavemac and Epsilon tips are as soft or softer than many 3 band silvertips. The crazy thing is, my Shavemac knot has only ONE shave under its belt, and already I can tell it has very soft tips.

Having no experience with those knots, I can't help, but there are definitely some folks here that can offer some insights. Good luck to you!

Just as an FYI to the OP, the bullgoose LE beehive is done by vie-long, which is the same maker as epsilon whivh is giftsandcare.com's brush by vie long. The beehive is their silvertip hair and they rate that hair higher than their 2 band. It states a 24mm knot but if its anything like the epsilons, it will most likely be 25-26mm. Its a high quality brush that normally sells for 135, currently down to 85, which would most likely be somewhat in the range of a self made brush, depending on your handle choice and knot.I can't speak of the knots you've listed, my brush purchases have been already manufactured.

If you go the custom route I would suggest checking out the Romera knots when he does the next buy-in, relatively cheap , very soft tipped 2 band knots. They seem to be pretty consistent judging from input on the forums

I have black badger knots way more supple and soft than any silvertip or HMW.  It is hard to say what sometimes you end up with because the grading system while has a outline, it becomes very loose in translation at the end of the day.

I have sourced a nice two band from a supplier but it is overseas and it is quite a nice knot and hardly loses any bristles even from the get go!  Was I lucky in the selection process by the supplier????  Maybe.  I will definitely buy more to build in the near future to see if this supplier is as discerning on the future knots for sure.

Well, i broke down and bought a shavemac 2-band silvertip. Got it off the bst. Its a 21mm beehive opus summum 2-band silvertip. Anybody else have 2-band silvertip? It will only be my 2nd good brush, recently got a Duke 2 best. I really like the size of the Duke 2, so im hoping this will be a good size for me also. Do you guys like your shavemac 2-band silvertips? Will post pics when i get it.

My 1st 2 band. Its a 21mm knot 43mm loft. Now i understand. It actually is very very similar to my Duke 2 best. I would say theres about as much backbone as the duke. But the difference is in the tips. The shavemac is so soft. There is absolutely no scritch or scratch at all. It is awesome. Feels so good on my face. The handle is very easy to grip also. No awkwardnes at all holding it.
