Those familiar with Saponificio Varesino's previous soaps will no doubt have high expectations for this soap, I know I did.

Well, you won't be disappointed.

The packaging is simply beautiful. Elegant and refined.

I wish all Saponificio Varesino soaps were offered in tins. I have the wood bowls and while I like them, they are not my preferred option.

The scent is exquisite. Coffee in no way defines or dominates the scent, but it's subtle inclusion certainly adds complexity and allure. Not at all bitter, but rather delicately sweet.

My wife loves the scent too (It's a rarity for her to share any interest in shaving, but she commented on it the moment she walked in the house).

The soap appears thirstier than previous formulations and build time felt slightly longer.

Slickness is abundantly present, even more so than earlier versions (I haven't tried Tundra, yet).

As with all Saponificio Varesino soaps the lather was easily made, very stable and wonderful cushion.

Post skin care is outstanding. My skin felt hydrated and supple, rather than fatigued. Post shave products, almost seemed unnecessary.

Thanks for sharing Ben,

Mine arrived last week along with Tundra. The presentation and scent of Cosmo is great..haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Ben is more a Simpson Manchurian guy.

With all respect for the SV brush and taking the chance to sound like a snob, I'm not sure many 'real' hard core brush fans would even consider the SV brush, of course I don't know anything about the brush - but a soap company selling brushes is rarely something, that will peak any real brush enthusiasts interest.

YMMV and all  Biggrin

I mean Claus... haha

Yes I see lots of Simpson Manchurian in Ben's photos and as an owner of a few myself (Simpson Manchurian brushes), I'd say the SV brushes look like they'd fit right in. Beautiful knots, although I'm not quite sold on the handles. Saponificio Varesino are fair bit more capable of producing a quality brush than other soap makers who stick solely to soap in my opinion.

I think I'm a fair way off topic in this thread and nothing personal is meant by my comment Claus, I know you're very selective with your gear

The current SV brushes look AMAZING. I'd love to try one. I also really like the look of the "grail" shave bowl...

I had a hard time locating the scent profile on this, but here's what I found:

Top Notes Citrus of Sicily, coffee
Middle Notes Nutmeg, coriander, pepper
Base Notes Vetiver, sandalwood, incense and vanilla

I love vetiver... does it come through strongly?

Hi Jag, Ben I believe placed his order from an Australian vendor. I've always ordered my Saponificio stuff directly from the manufacturer (http://www.saponificiovaresino.com/shop/index.php).

Hey guys, is the scent really strong in your soaps?
Here in Poland few of the members of our community bought these soaps and most of them are saying that it's almost unscented!
The scent of Cosmo is much weaker than in Dolomiti, which already was very weak.
Maybe we have received some wrong part?

the scent in my soap is not too strong but pleasant.  the aftershave balm is much more pronounced and longer lasting.  this is the scent I like so much. the performance of the soap is similar to my other triple milled sv soaps.

No.
It was made only one production batch.
I can ensure that every soap is identical.

The scent of my Cosmo soap is PERFECT.

I find the scent better and stronger than the original Dolomiti and Fern.

I broke down and ordered me some Cosmo Ben. Been really enjoying my SV soaps lately...not sure if it's the weather change or Celestino's Shea butter application but my shaves have been really smooth lately...a couple of times I've had to catch myself from unconsciously feeling my cheeks!
