Hello all,

My first post aside from my introduction post! So exciting.

Well, my Above the Tie R1 razor with Colossus handle arrived today. I needed a shave anyway, so I tried it out about 1/2 hour after it arrived.

I was impressed with the heft of the razor, and the solid feel.

I loaded up a Feather blade and shaved my normal routine. It worked great! I have small hands and don't need this long of a handle, but it felt good in my hand. Very balanced.

The razor is heavy enough to let the razor do most of the work. I slide it over my cheeks and down onto my neck and it cut smoothly through my 4-day growth of beard.

The only problem area was right under my nose; the head is a little larger than some of the Merkur razors I normally use, and I had to be extra careful getting right up under my nostrils. Aside from that, a very clean, smooth shave.

I was a little apprehensive about spending this much for yet another razor, but I'm very satisfied.

Thanks for listening.

Les

My R1 head came in last night as well. The Razor is incredible. I used a Polsilver SI blade and couldnt have asked for a better shave. I was nervous about the aggression but from the second I put it on my skin, I knew this was a great razor.

10/10 shave no problem

I use an ATT S1 and it's been great.  They make quality hardware.  Congrats and happy shaving!

My R1 head and inkwell stand were delivered today and I have some PolSilver blades on the way. I have owned an S2 for a while and love it. Looking forward to using my R1.

I have struggled with the portfolio of options from ATT. I find myself being indecisive with Stans line-up, do I want their slant or solid bar? Some folks say the slant is not a dramatic example of what a slant can do, other folks find it to be the end-all razor. If I get the solid bar I would want the full collection of plates to decide on aggression levels for myself. Ah well... at some point I will submit a purchase, probably for half of his line.

The entire lineup of ATT razors is amazing! They even offer that marvelous machined razor with 3 solid bar plates (M,R,&H) and a machined razor stand in bronze -- a collector's item for sure.

Congratulations to the OP on owning such a nice razor -- the Colossus handle is a classic. I find my M2 to be a terrific shaver too.
I chose the shorter Atlas handle and it's a true beauty.

Hi Les, glad your enjoying it. I use an Atlas handle with my R1 head and find that perfect for me.

I find the R1 to be perfect, but the Colossus handle is a bit long.  I ordered a Kronos today to see if it will be a better fit.  I already have the Bronze set and find the Atlas a bit short.  Feel like the 3 bears.........

I got my ATT Kronos R1 about a week ago and it's everything everyone else here is saying it is.

Beautiful razor, great weight, balance, craftsmanship.  Worth every penny to get one.

I've used Polsilver SI and Gillette Silver Blues in it thus far and every shave has been amazing.
The R1 *might* be slightly aggressive for me so I'm thinking about getting an M1 base to have both options.

But bottom line - an amazing razor that delivers consistently amazing shaves.  Not letting this one go - ever.

Yeah - I got the Kronos and it's the perfect size for me.  Neither too long nor too short.  I think you'll like it too.

You were right, the Kronos is perfect for me.  I now have an S1 Kronos and a Bronze R1 Atlas.  Both superb razors.
