Can anyone recommend a razor that is less aggressive than a r41 but more than an a r89.
I have a strange beard I guess. The r41 iratates and the r89 takes to many passes. I have used Polisilver, Med Preps, Astras and even the Feather. I have given ample time at least a month with each brand of blade.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you need an adjustable.

Here are a few:

* Wolfman
* ATT H1 or R1
* Blackbird (I haven't tried, yet)
* Adjustables (vintage Gillettes, Futur, Progress)
* Fatip
* Matador Toro Mastiff open-comb
* Many of the Ikon razors (not the Tech as that is as aggressive as the R41)

Good luck.

I think most razors fall into that gap. You might also consider using the r41 WTG and the R89 for your other passes.

I think either a Parker 26C or Merkur 38C would neatly fit the bill.

A Merkur Adjustable would be a nice choice.

If you're open to vintage, I think the NEW SC and LC are really nice, middle-of-the-road razors.
