With so many new razors coming out, some of them using different types of blades. It almost begs the question, which type of blade is your favorite. The one you feel gives you the closest & smoothest shave?
Is it a DE blade, an SE like the GEM, a SE like the Artist Club used in the Mongoose, or a SE like the Feather used in the OneBlade?
My vote is for the SE Artist Club. Very sharp and seems to hold the edge for many shaves.

Also would vote for the Artist Club blades, although my ATT S1 Slant with a Feather or Kai DE blade comes really close.

I prefer GEM style SE. For some razors I like Feathers and for others GEMs.
I have to get one of those "near wedge" in shave-ready condition, put in a SE and see how it goes.

A week ago I would have said SE, but then I tried a BBS-1.

I'm using Super Iridiums, but have a bunch of other blades to try out.

Ron, I think it's a YMMV and what works best for YOU thing.

That said, I generally prefer SE artist club blades like the Feather and Kai.  I have had great results with my King Cobra, and use it daily.  However, after receiving a BBS-1, I think I have a new daily driver.  The BBS-1 has given me astonishingly close shaves with no irritation.  The other day I was shaving and it was so smooth, I was wondering if I was just scraping lather with the safety bar.  But no, it was cutting away.  I have sensitive skin and this razor is blowing me away.

Att h2 with a kia blade gets me extremely close. I don't shave everyday twice a week, 3 at the most.

Eric, that is the purpose of this thread, what type of blade do you prefer the most. This is not about razors. Just what type blade do you like the most. So your vote would be for a DE blade.

My only foray thus far into SE has been a GEM Micromatic with GEM coated blade. It was OK. I think I would have liked it more if I had a sharper blade for it, but that's one if the drawbacks with SEs, I think... Less blade choice as compared to DEs.

The Feather Artist Club blades SE like used in the Mongoose are considered by many to be the sharpest blades around. Give those a try.

I've had the best shaves using an Astra blade in my Gillette New.
