Hi , I'm new to the forum but I thought I'd share a recent antique find of mine to break the ice or to garner some lifelong enemies

I know these are rare but any info would be greatly appreciated from anybody who can shed more light on it. Thanks.
Will

Thanks nick, it's a great razor and has earned a spot in my rotation because of that and not just because it is a rare piece.

Darwins were made in the UK by a razorblade maker. The candlestick handle copied a very popular design for- candlesticks and the head approximates a hollow ground straight.
Cobalt was a predecessor to commercial stainless steel and is essential today in cellphones and a cause of gross human rights violations. They command high prices if and when
available. I do not want to hear what you paid.

I'm in Scotland so , too far for most to hunt me down! The head is stamped Cobalt Steel Sheffield as well. The handle does not have any stamping unlike some I have seen. Thanks.

Yeah I'm aware of the problems the manufacturing of mobile phones causes for usually underage workers in procuring the materials for the circuitry, mainly in 3rd world countries in Africa and Asia You definitely don't want to hear what I paid for it. Put it this way it was the money that jingles and not the kind that falls.

Say that again, but he said he paid with coins and not paper, so I guess he got it cheap.  Still, get the wife a nice gift just for kicks, lol....

I do not want to be privy to some tale of stopping at a boot sale and handing over a handful of scottish shillings to some poor woman who never fully accepted the new decimal system. We have 'estate sales' which consist of PEE WEE HERMAN dolls, old National Geographics and smelly
clothing. I go on  UK EBAY and get obliterated bidding on Derbyshire Bluejohn Stone, sterling tealeaf strainers, Irish bog oak and old G.K. Chesterton books.

Ha , I found it in a box full of old spoons , zippo lighters and buttons. I took a deep breath , composed myself and the dealer said £3. I had a £10 note and £2.20 in change ; that £10 remained folded and crisp in my pocket  Biggrin  It's swings and roundabouts gents , earlier that day a guy wanted £30 for a junker Gillette Tech . Besides I didn't fully know what I had , I knew it was pretty and unique and I had heard of the manufacturer but mainly the Rolls razor style.

Such good fortune should be attended with careful behavior. You need to leave some milk out for the Brownies and Lagavulin for any wise women about. Should you neglect to do so, crop circles will appear on a certain American's Scottish golf course with incriminating evidence leading back to you. [Image: BHMXN5t.jpg]
