Although Portland is called "Rose City," I prefer growing old world, antique roses, in contrast to tea roses. I picked these this morning for our dining room table.

I have a single Old World Rose on my apt patio. I lost the name. I remember it is English, red-black and lovely. If I could find a source  for the native guppies of my youth this place would be complete.  LOVELY PHOTO!

One of my survival jobs was as nurseryman in a 'Big Box' store unworthy of being named. Half the department staff would go on vacation to avoid bare root season.
I learned a few things from a Rosarian Judge who worked there part time. I'm unpacking the roses, getting bloodied and segregating a white varietal #1 cane in a shopping basket. Store manager gives me grief; thinking I am so stupid as to sort by color alone. This voice interjects ' Oh Chris, grazi! did you find 24 good ones for me'?
Si, Madama Ponti, and I push the basket with Mama Sophia giving my boss her signature look of disdain to the register. Heart Bow

Thanks everyone. When I'm thinking about roses or razors, I'm not thinking about all the crap that goes on in the world.
