Most people don't recommend them. They aren't a good value--why pay $20-30 a month to get random stuff? Just set aside $30 and you can buy 1-2 products yourself and actually get something you want. I haven't seen a monthly box where the products were consistently good quality. You're paying 2x as much as the products are worth for mediocre quality products. The people who operate the boxes just seem to throw in whatever random products they can get instead of actually picking something interesting or something that a hobbyist would actually want.

If you actually want to try a variety of products, take the amount of money you'd spend on the first 2 boxes and spend them getting samples from an online vendor.

I agree with vadim. I know it is kind of cool to get a monthly mail call, maybe even a mystery box, etc. But I would rather take the money spent every month on a box with stuff someone else randomly chose to fill with things they think might appeal to a broad number of wetshavers, and use that money to focus in on what I, specifically, might be interested in.
And I would still get my mail call. Smile

As the other two gentlemen have stated, forego the box and buy what you like. Shy

You're better off buying a few things that you choose when you want them than a subscription box. It's mostly junk.

Confucius say, man who lets other choose shaving stuff must also stock up on alum blocks.

No honestly, I made it up but the sentiment is OK.

Never come across a 'monthly shave box', but it sounds like a waste of time and money.  Half the fun of wet shaving is being able to pick and choose your gear.

It is a waste of money. It is better to inform yourself and make an educated guess of what you might like.  It is not 100% guaranteed, but it is a way better opinion.

There are so many great products on the cheap available today. If you asked me to put together a monthly set right now for $30 I would have no problem buying products that would last two or three months.
