I think I'm having a bit of fragrance overload lately....citrus, lavender, chypre, fougere, leather, wood, etc.  It's a back to basics summer for me....white tee shirts; khaki shorts, sidewalk surfers and simple, clean soapy scents (OK and a bit of English Fern thrown in there Biggrin )

In your opinion, which soaps smell the most like "fresh, clean soap" and nothing more?

Palmolive Shave Stick has a medicinal soap scent, reminds me of the Green bath soap they made in the 60's & 70's.

To me it would be Arko, Palmolive shave stick, MWF or Haslingers Scharfsmilch.

Most unscented soaps from artisans have a light soapy scent.

I find these to be clean and fresh/soapy scents but might not be as light as you would like except for maybe the BWW

Reef Point - Test Depth
BWW - Barnacle Bob
Caties Bubbles - Un Jour Gris & LTV
Shaver Heaven - Drogon Noir

If you want truly unscented - both Mike's and Mystic Water have unscented soaps, that don't even smell of soap - truly unscented.

The question is odd, because what does soap smell like?

Most soaps that you used in the bath or to wash your hands when you were a kid were scented soaps.  Lightly scented, but scented nonetheless.  So I believe that what you think of as smelling like "soap" is actually your memory of whatever scent the soaps of your childhood had.  As others have mentioned, unscented soap really doesn't have much of a scent.

I'd wager that when I was a kid, most lightly scented soaps were vaguely lavender scented, but I could be wrong.  So maybe a very lightly lavender-scented shave soap would do the trick?
