It's only recently (in the last few years) that I've really 'discovered' Steely Dan. Yes, I've heard the usual songs 'Do it again', 'Peg', 'FM' etc. on the radio, and I had tapes with those songs a long time ago, but I didn't really pay attention to them.

However, I've been growing very fond of their music. I find that they have a really interesting sense of rhythm and some of the musical phrases in their songs are so interesting.

Songs like 'Caves of Altamira', 'Razor Boy', 'Bad Sneakers' are all interesting and some of the music in them is pretty sublime.

They also don't look like rock/pop performers.

Regardless, they are well worth paying attention to. I'm sure there are some other fans here. Stand up and be counted. Biggrin

Kooze,
You saw them? When they used to tour, the skinny on them was that they were terrible live. Was that wrong?

I had read that back in their prime, they didn't like doing live shows which probably expalins at least back then why their shows got bad reviews.

When I saw them- they were awesome- it must have been about 10 years ago. They had a huge band, and it sounded Excellent.

Was a little mellow but an excellent show.

Well, their music is mellow in general.

I've never seen them in concert. I wish I could - them and Tom Waits (preferably separately).

I'd have to go by myself for the Tom Waits one......my wife can't stand him.

I have always liked them. And, I had forgotten the "album" name was Aja. My son's girlfriend is named Aja. But now I can't remember for sure how to pronounce the album name...anyone?
