This is about my head. You see, for the last 2 years - basically since joining TSN - I've been on a buying frenzy. Started with blades and vintage razors, then soaps and for the last year now, brushes. I've realized that the extent of my ADs has been all consuming. Thankfully I was smart about things and ordered within my means. Bills have been paid and no debt incurred. Financially I'm ok. But mentally, I've become an addict.

I can't continue behaving this way and have forced myself to acknowledge this weakness - which has been very difficult in light of the impending arrival of Thater 2 bands at BG. I want one. Ohhhh, I want one.

But, I don't need one. I have a dozen really wonderful badger brushes, two dozen soaps and over a thousand blades. I can outfit a dozen men, each for a year's worth of daily shaves. It's time for me to enjoy the fruits of my 2 year buying spree. As much as the pleasure center of my brain wants MORE, the rest of me will keep those feelings in check for a while. For my own sanity I will put new purchases on the back burner for an indeterminate amount of time and do what I advise others to do. I will focus on enjoying my shaves.

Thank you for understanding.

Was never a scent person. Swmbo is not a scent person either, so that's an easy AD for me to avoid.

Good luck with your efforts. It won't be easy.  Of that you can be assured.

But, you are not alone.

Best of luck, Charlie and congratulations! It has been over 5 years, but I still haven't come to my senses. Well, with soaps, I have, but not with custom brushes. Biggrin

Sell 5 of those brushes.
Sell 18 of those soaps.
Take a break from the forums.

Good to go.

I think admitting you have a problem is a good first step. Good luck, Charlie.

That's what I did with headphones.... then decided I needed to wet shave and do some research... rest is history......

...There's always going to be something else.

I'm in the same boat -- can't seem to stop acquiring shaving gear. I am mildly concerned, and I try to slow down a bit, but I have always been this way with things I'm interested in. I have dozens and dozens of fountain pens and inks, but my mania for pens has waned, and now I simply enjoy using different and interesting pens every day. If I come across a deliciously interesting pen, I will likely buy it, but I'm no longer on a quest -- no longer addicted.

I suspect that, for me, the shaving quest will wane also, leaving me with a substantial body of gear to enjoy for many years to come. That's the forecast anyway -- we'll see..........

Thanks for commiserating with me, Gents. Through rational thought I've lessened the burn in my ears, chest and throat. The desire is a little easier to deal with.

I'm thinking of laying down a few hints however, what with Father's Day around the bend. Is it wrong to ask others to stimulate my pleasure center?

Wet towels belong on the counter- not thrown on enthusiasm for shaving products. This  forum is to enjoy products, not join hands and recite the serenity prayer.

Perhaps I didn't phrase my intent with clarity. I am enjoying my razors, soaps and brushes immensely. Plus, I'd never dream of dampening another's enthusiasm for something as enjoyable as shaving products - not your's or anyone else's. My op was merely an admission of what I'd begun to feel was an issue of sorts relative to my emotional/rational thinking/behavior.

Yes, this is a forum; a place for exchanging ideas. Just wanted to start a conversation. I did not suggest a group moratorium - I know the rule. Never meant to offend anyone's sensibilities. If I did then I apologize.

And again I say, thank you for understanding.

Charlie, I'm not the thought police. It's just a trend of emotional hair shirts I noticed on a forum for removing hair.

I suppose you could always ask your kids to buy you something you don't want, but what's the sense in that?
