How and Why to Use the Block User Function

I have heard and read about member using this in passing and was looking for it last night but came up empty. Can someone explain how it works and if I want to do this, then how do I go about activating it?

Click on the member you wish to block, this will take you to their profile page.
In their profile page select "add to ignore list" on the far right hand side.
You will no longer see posts made by the member.

When you block a user you will still be able to see that they have posted, but only what they posted if you choose to.  This is quite a hand feature to have around here these days.  

Doesn't work in Tapatalk from what I've been able to determine.
Unless the other user also uses Tapatalk.

On the other side of the coin, what happens when you 'Add to Buddy List' someone?

If you ignore someone and someone else quotes them that you didn't ignore, what happens?

The ignored user's post will show up if somebody else quotes them in the post by the unblocked user.  The original quoted post by the blocked user will still not show in the thread.
