Some might recall that our beloved cat passed away last February... and while he can never be replaced, our new pet is starting to get used to us and allow himself (we think it's a he) to be handled without too much fuss.

It is indeed a pigeon - a Texan/Strasser mix. And since's he's a meat-breed and will become the size of a small chicken when he's fully grown, we've decided to call him Tiny.

Horrible lame pun, we know Tongue

Yes, the pigeon is the new pet... got him a little while back from a breeder just a couple of hours away. Breed for temper, not for looks Smile

Well, that's a different kind of pet.  I know a lot of folks with birds for pets, I've even had a few.  But this is the first time for a pigeon.  I notice the short tail.  Does it spend most of its time on the ground, like a chicken does?

He's a really bad flyer, but he likes to perch on things. I guess the breed just have short tails Smile

He can be really cuddly when he wants to.. but he can also be somewhat of a grumpy guy. Very different from a cat, and different even from our finches.

He's on your head in your library.

That must be where you do all your intellectual stuff.

For certain values of 'intellectual', yes...

My bookshelf is behind my computer. That way I can just reach back and grab a reference when I'm working Smile
