A video just popped up in my Youtube subscription list that's relevant to this discussion in case any other wet tubers are watching.  Wink

Great Vid, his eyes went a bit wide when he first plastered that A/S on. No nonsense.

I'll watch different channels (typically the first quarter), but the only one I truely enjoy is Con's "Shave the Man". Well edited, light humor, and good product reviews.  Wish he would make more.

Still enjoy these 3 guys from YouTube:

PaulH Films
Mauro di Lernia
Nick Shaves

I've only follow Nick. Mauro is good, but I don't understand Italian, and for that reason I can't watch his videos.

I sometimes like Steve the daily shaver but he talks too much and most of the time I can't understand what he is saying.

Nick Shaves is cool, Paul H too. Both seems to be very humble and down to earth guys.

There is one that is becoming too prima donna-ish for my taste so I unsubbed.

I understand 15% Italian but I enjoy his videos highly.
He's first class.

Yeah, no doubt about it. And he's interesting. Too bad that he doesn't record videos on english, or just make subtitle translation.

I asked him, and his englsh is not good enough to do videos.

He is in fact working on his own shaving soap called MDL Beta 3 at the moment.

I will buy it, when he is ready to release it.

The problem for most of them is that there aren't too much money in this thing. You make a video, but there's a slim chance to get some revenue out of it, as there isn't too much interest. People are doing it mostly for fun. And to increase your production value, you need to spend some money. And those are money that you are not gonna get them back. You could break it if you go really original, shaving with machetes, glass, whatever. But it's a stretch.
Beside production value, information value should be crucial. I'm not gonna check you out anymore if, in most of your soap reviews, your scent description is "yeah, it smells like soap". I never used the things that you are using. My presence on your video is due to an interest in purchasing a product. Be honest with me, as a viewer, about that product. As long as all of the soaps you are trying are slick and awesome, you might lose credibility when people won't have such a good experiences with what are you recommending. Same goes with those shavers that are getting irritation, but they are like "oh, great shave". I can see the pain in your eyes. No need to kid me and yourself.

Eh. You are doing this for a while. You should know that there are more people giving tips about how to do a thing, even if they fail. It's ironic that his "How to get more views on YouTube" got less than 4K views.

In writing/blogging is the same things. People that are making good money out of it are people that are writing only stuff like "how to earn money with your blog". That's a catch-22 right there. In order to get some money, I need to teach other people how to make money.

There are a few youtube guys I will watch, and a lot that I cannot stand.

-Nick Shaves
-PaulHFilms
-Kensurfs
-Mantic
-TSE (though I've been watching less and less lately)

Generally, Nick Shaves is pretty articulate in describing most soap scents, if there is a soap I want to try but am unsure of the scent description I'll search it on Youtube and see if Nick has a video.

TSE is my go to for my Stirling soaps, if I want to see new scent line-ups Stirling is offering.

Mantic is my go to for technique and tips, if I want to learn more about "the Gillette Slide" or "Blade Buffing" or "J-hooking"

Kensurfs has a new razor, or new brush seemingly every video, so that's just "Shave Gear Porn"

And PaulH... come to think of it I'm not quite sure why I watch Paul. His videos are easily 25+ minutes most of his soaps/creams are very European and hard to come by here, or they're very basic like Arko, Palmolive etc... but I enjoy his videos nonetheless.

Watching other people shave is a weird concept in general, but it makes me excited/anxious to shave again.
