First, this is not a razor for everyone.  It is very expensive and you only get 1 or 2 shaves a blade costing about $.89 each.  It is like a fine expensive Italian sports car.  Beautiful in every way.  This is the best engineered, designed and functional razor, DE or SE I have ever used and I have used all the major razors over 55 years.  Right out of the box you are overwhelmed with the detail to quality and design.  To install a blade, you push the blade through a slot on the top of the razor until it clicks.  I found that task was much easier if you rinse the blade with hot water  prior to installing it to remove the glue from the wrapper.  The pivot really sets this razor apart from anything else.  It is just the right amount of resistance, spring loaded to keep the head moving but not sloppy.  Like my Mongoose, light pressure is essential.  Let the weight of the razor and the pivot head do the work.  I found 3 passes worked the best.  Take the hair off incrementally.  I also like the shorter width head.  Easier to get into tight places like the upper lip, chin and neck.  Results:  After 4 shaves this razor performs flawlessly.  Very close, smooth and irritation free.  No burn when using an alum bloc.  Is it better then my Mongoose, Futur or other DE or SE razors?  If you can afford it, it will give you a lifetime of great shaves.  It's like a Mastro Livi straight razor. Really performs and looks great but you can get a good shave from an Aust if thats the only thing you want.  The feel and balance does set this above anything else on the market.  PERFECT!  the razor holder is an amazing extra and highly functional.  The beautiful leather travel case also show the importance of detail and function.  My major concern is if the company goes out of business or Feather stops making the special blade for this, your really screwed.  My Futur will always have great blades available and costs a quarter of the ONE BlADE.  Glad I bought it though.
Just picked up blades for $.44 a blade from Connaught Shaving.  Very good price.

It is very expensive but there are those that get a lot more shaves out of a blade and you can always use a despined GEM blade.
On a personal note: I don't hope it's like the two mastro Livi razors I owned YMMV.

Good review and I agree with the OB being an excellent razor.  It's my daily driver now and I routinely get 3 shaves from the Feather blade.

I would, now, after having tried one for the past four days and seven shaves, have to concur with most of the above comments of the OP.
This is a fantastic shaver and possibly the best designed razor head I have ever used. The handle is a completely different matter, altogether!!

Regarding the blades, I can get two shaves with the Feathers and 4-6 with the GEMs, although the latter are not as smooth.

Now, all I have to do is muster the courage to pay so much money for the razor. Biggrin

I also love my OneBlade. I agree with Celestino in that my only gripe is the handle. I'd prefer a traditional knurled handle, but it's not too bad as it is.

I'm thinking....if enough of us own one...there will always be a company willing to make a blade for it.
