I placed a reorder with Antica Barbieria Colla last night and received some bad news. The ABC Hard Soap has been discontinued. I really hope that they reconsider as it was an excellent soap and one of my better sellers. <sigh>

This is not good news.  I just shaved with ABC this morning.  In fact, I just ordered three aftershave balms from them yesterday and almost added another soap to the cart.  Did they give you a reason as to why they are discontinuing it?  Also, are they still going to make the cream?

The shaving cream is still in production. They did not really give a reason for discontinuing the soap other than to say they decided to eliminate the item.

Wow.  I had a sample and it was among my favorites.  I kept hesitating on buying a puck and now I regret it.

More people seemed to like the cream than the soap. As long as they're still in business, I wouldn't be surprised if a reformulation came in down the line...

No reason given? If the cream and other products are still rolling I wonder if it was a demand problem.

Wow, always wanted to try that one.  Now I guess I'll have to overpay to get this "vintage" soap. . .

I can't be without ABC. I was able to complete a purchase for two pucks and pricey shipping on their website.

The soap and the cream performed nicely for me, but my face got scorched Firedevil by the almond scent and I passed it along a couple of years ago.  Ever since I have stayed as far away as possible from almond scented soaps and creams. I hope for those who enjoy it you can stockpile the stuff before it becomes like Penhaligon's tallow in price.

It is available on my web page too for the time being. They apparently do not have enough stock to send to vendors and we will both be out of stock soon.

A current thread asks if people replace soaps when they are nearing the end. I don't care if I live on frozen burritos and tap water next month. I'm paying a few outstanding debts and then a few of my favorite soaps are getting ( for me) some serious investing. If this is some Lizard People conspiracy to mess with me I'm setting some old bear traps near their secret caves in Griffith Park and having lizard kabobs with fava beans and a nice chianti. This is getting old.

I might have some friends who live outside of Milan get me a couple of pucks while they still can.

And people think I'm nuts for stockpiling MDC, hey you never know some sort of cataclysm in France or maybe they just decide not to make it anymore  I guess I'm sort of an MDC prepper or something.

This was my reasoning when I started hoarding Mystic Water, six years ago. Biggrin
