I can't compare it to the ATT as I haven't tried that one. Compared to the Mongoose, AlumiGoose v1, & both Cobras it is much more mild. I could only get a close shve using the Feather Super Pro blade when I normally can use the regular Pro blade in any of the other razors. The Pro blade in the General left stubble on me while the Super got me BBS. I will say it was about the most care free I've been with an AC type blade.

The first batch is being made currently I believe with an availability date of September.

I heard back from Kyle with Colonial. The only change made to the version that I have is to the screw. It is now a machined thread instead of a stainless steel set screw which required loctite to hold in place. He also mentioned that they are working hard to get the razors out in August. It could be September, but they are really shooting for August.

On August 7 I received this response from Colonial Razors:
"we are getting batch 1 from the factory this week. I will have to see which Batch you will come up on. It's soon though, my friend. Stay tuned and watch out for the invoice in the future. Regards, Kirk Evans"
That was a week ago; I have heard nothing more. I am eagerly waiting.

Email this a.m.: Batch 1 is ready to ship, but a couple of minor machining problems were noted during QC, neither of which will effect how the razor shaves, and easily fixed for Batch 2. Accordingly, Batch 1 will ship at a reduced price. Those interested should be receiving an email with more information.

I did find a blemish on mine, but it was so tiny, that it required magnification to see, and the blade loaded perfectly; it also gave me a damn fine shave. IMO, except for the handle it compares favorably with the ATT SE-1, at 1/3 the cost. Here are a couple of pictures of it with a vintage
Durham-Duplex handle. The razor head by itself weighs 19 grams. With their stock handle it weighs 45 grams, with my handle it weighs 62 grams.
I almost always customize my stuff to fit me better. I am really enjoying this razor a lot, and hope you enjoy yours also. It's a damn fine razor.

Mine also arrived today. I spent some time going over it with a magnifying glass and I cannot find a blemish of any sort. So, I feel like I got a bargain.
Fit and finish are quite good, especially considering the price point.
At first glance it bears an uncanny resemblance to the ATT SE1. It's worth pointing out that the first prototype of The General predated the SE1 by several months.
Closer inspection reveals several differences. The blade is secured by two pins rather than two tabs, and there is no alignment ridge on the base plate. Nonetheless, the blade is held securely and there is no play, even before the handle is tightened.
The guard is different, with a single slot the length of the blade and no scallops.
Loading a blade was just like any other razor of this type. The blade gap and exposure appears to be larger than the SE1.

had my first shave and it performed quite well. I am getting used to the kai and feather blades. prefer the feather pros . the lightness of this razor is quite different than the att se 1. I have a heavier handle on it. like this little gem a lot and the price for a blemished one (I could not find it either) was perfect. a great starting point for someone to try kai blades and se's all at once
