Thank you, Sir.

I actually started this thread, because I got tired of similar threads on Basenotes and Fragrantica (both fragrance forums) which got out of hand in my honest opinion because niche snobbery took completely over and ruined the nice groove these threads originally started out with.

Nothing wrong with niche fragrances, but there’s something wrong with fragrances enthusiast, when they no longer are able to see, find and praise great fragrances for what they are - just nice smelling scents. It’s called snobbery. Plain and simple.

And it’s mostly the relatively new fragheads, which start out the first couple of years hating and disliking the original designer fragrances and only being able to enjoy niche fragrances preferably priced at $300 and above pr. bottle.

Most niche fragrances are advanced clones and copies of the great designer scents from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with an added touch. Sometimes niche fragrances are over valued expensive piece of thick smelling bold garbage, sometimes they are magical De luxe editions of pieces of art.

I always remember this.

Sometimes I’m sick of my niche fragrances and love the lighter synthetic cheap simple fragrances in my collection. Sometimes I want more. Then I wear some of my bolder thicker niche fragrances. But I never forget where it all started for me. Back in the mid 1980’s with YSL, Dior, Azzaro, Oscar De la Renta, Paco Rabanne (not the sweet crap they release now a days) and many many more designer fragrances.

I've really appreciated this kind of thinking, Claus. I've been enjoying reading about fragrances, and have been slowly adding to my collection, but can't afford the higher priced items. I can't think of a fragrance that I"ve purchased after your comments or recommendation that I haven't enjoyed. Lately I've been having fun adding some of the Bond No. 9 scents that you've enjoyed. Next I'll probably add a couple more of the YSL frags that you've mentioned. This thread is really great fun, and you deserve 90% of the credit for making it that way.

Thanks, Richard.

I love this scent, Richard.

Even though Bond No.9 as a brand has a less than ideal reputation in the fragrance community (the owner used to work for Creed and several Bonds are quite close copies of certain Creeds and she supposedly is not the friendliest person in the world if you share anything negative about the Bond brand), I still love many of their fragrances. They are sort of designer scents disguised as niche fragrances, if you know what I mean.

Riverside Drive is one of my favourite uplifting aromatic woody fougere like fresh type of scents out there. Like many other Bond fragrances I get solid longevity from this one too, 7-9 hours.

I own 16 Bond fragrances and all have decent to great longevity on my skin.

Creed Royal Water

Citrus with bitter notes. I like it. A good match with the similar, but less complex MT Dark Limes.

I seriously dislike this flacon. Gold colour, too much bling, the charm of a rapper. Simply too much.

But I do like this scent. It is warm, elegant, has freshness, some fruity notes, melon, sandal, iris, salt.
I like it a lot.

Btw, Ebenholz after shave balm is simply outstanding stuff, fully organic, leaves no greasy residue and feels great.
Highly recommended and not a bad match for Creed MI.

Wearing a classic today.

Azzaro Acteur.

I don’t like rose in fragrances, but the way it’s used in Acteur is really well done.
