G'day Nookie,

Before I start planning my next shave soon with a Muhle R41 attach with a iKon Bamboo handle using a GSB blade and I find the iKon Bamboo is much heavier than the iKon Bulldog handle, and this should help me shave much safer with the weight of the razor without applying pressure at all so what's you're experience with the Muhle R41 v2013 head which is the latest on the market.

The Muhle R41 v2011 is the most aggressive head I've read against the v2013, and what I find on the R41 v2013 showing a #2 on the head cap before you attach to the base plate and when I look at the Muhle R89 head cap showing a #4 and this is telling me the blade gap number on the head cap IF I'm not mistaken.

I'm confused if you're asking for help on something. Please clarify if so.

Other wise, I prefer using the 2011 with a Kai blade and a Razorback aluminum handle on 3 days growth minimum. Maybe since it is a sharp blade, it is okay with a lighter handle but in general I like the control and lack of added weight in using a aluminum handle.

I do like using the 2013 as well but mostly use the 2011.

Shaving is often counterintuitive. The only way to find what works best is trial and error. Experiment with different handles, blades and soap...but keep two out of the three constant (i.e., use the same type blade and soap while you're comparing handles).

I don't know what #2 and #4 mean, but they wouldn't have anything to do with blade gap/exposure.

Omg look at that blade exposure!

I'm on the fence if I should get an r41, it's reputation even the 2013 models can be intimidating specially for guys with sensitive skin like me.

I never cared for the R41 2013. I could not get a smooth shave with it. It always felt like I was pulling my beard out instead of cutting it. Not smooth at all for me.

Signs011 , the harshest shaver I have ever used!

@1Geralt IF you plan to get an R41 you might want to use a Derby blade Winky

@KRpdx me either I couldn't understand why they show a number on the Muhle head cap and this is why I had to ask as I said before #2 showing on R41 and #4 showing on R89 so I had to asking, because I own on Rockwell 6s and 3 base plate showing each number on each side of the plate from R1 to R6 and I thought the idea was showing on the Muhle head cap similar.

@KRpdx understood thanks for this tip and I'm planning to use the R41 next week, because I was currently using a Muhle R89 with a iKon Bamboo handle so I can get a good feel of the weight for at least a week before I try the handle on the R41. So far the iKon Bamboo handle weight is perfect shaving on the R89 went smooth as a [Image: 215079g923g99vxm.gif]and I'm looking forward to try this on a R41 also I have all 3 iKon handles and a Weber handle which are the iKon Bulldog Handle, iKon OSS Handle, iKon Bamboo Handle and the Weber Razor Classic Handle all these weight are completely different.

For me the Muhle R41 2013 works just fine. I wouldn't say it is a forgiving razor and it is probably not for someone with sensitive skin.

The 2013 r41 has been my favorite DE since I purchased it. The 2011 got the job done but felt rougher so I sold it. 2013 r41 with a Feather or Gillette Platinum is my go-to when not using a straight.

I tried the 2013 and found it to be uncomfortable for me.  I would get razor burn and didn't enjoy the shave.  After trying this shaver I consciously decided that I would pursue or only shave with a razor that was comfortable and enjoyable.  I can get a BBS with others that don't bother me like the R41 did.

G'day Nookies,

Had a shave Tuesday night with the R41 v2013 head attach with a iKon Bamboo using a GSB blade, and HOLY MOTHER OF MERCY  Shok this bastard razor I've never felt in my life with a blade really attach to my skin full on like Freddy Krueger is really torturing me for a blood bath shave. Lucky me with only a few very small nick around the neck area and it wasn't too bad, and not enough to make Freddy any happier all I can say WOW! this razor really does feel like a killing machine with an extreme caution at all times.

[Image: J5063.png]  HOLY MOTHER OF MERCY Shok and I'm going again tonight

What other blades have you considered for your next shave if you weren't going to use aa Gillette Silver Blue?

I have not tried and shaved more than 3 or 4 GSBs but I have used a large amount of Crystals, Pol Silver Super Iridium, and Kais. The R41 has great range in blades it can accept happily and shave well. This includes using Astra Greens and Derby razor blades.

Good question @zaclikestoshave after GSB I'll try the Voskhod and then a Derby & Polsilver Super Iridium, I wouldn't wack in a Feather over my dead body Shok I'll keep the number of shaves up to 3 and no more cause I don't want to take any further risk.

You probably wouldnt want to use a R41 with Feather blades because theyre so aggressive but with blades that are less aggressive, it can be a great razor if youve got some experience and know what youre doing.

I have the 2013 R41 head and love it. I don't use it regularly, just with heavy growth. I only use Personna Plats and it works just fine. I find a light touch and an excellent lather does the trick perfectly.

I purchased the Grande and used this exclusively for a year; I then changed the handle (Webber Classic) and have continued to use regularly but not exclusively. I have recently purchased another R41, this time with the standard handle in the hope that I can get the increased tactile and audio feedback of the Grande in a smaller size and gain more control - relying less on handle weight. For me a smooth shave with the R41 lasts so much longer than from my other DE's.
