Hi All,
I recently acquired one of the newly released Supply Provision stainless steel injectors and would like to share it amongst the TSN community if there is interest in trying it. It has been a couple years since I have regularly used an injector and am quite happy with what I am shaving with now, so I am curious how the injector enthusiasts among us will receive this new offering.
General requirements for participation
Active Shave Nook members in "good standing" are welcome to send me a PM regarding participating in the tour. I would suggest active and good standing infers you have been around TSN for at least a few months and are participating in the community. If you are active on other shaving forums and are new to TSN I will take that into consideration. And if you do not qualify today but have interest, you may become eligible as the tour unfolds...so please feel free to send me a message and I can add you to the "reserve" list.
Following are the rules that I have used for each of the tours I have hosted, which are simply intended to keep the tour fair, fun and safe.
1. Please limit your time with the gear to 7 - 10 days. This should be enough time for some quality shaves and impressions. There will be exceptions, and if you know ahead of time your schedule will be limited (e.g., vacation, job constraints, travel) please let me know so we can adjust the order and keep the momentum going.
2. The package will contain the Supply Provision injector razor, mild (one dot), moderate (2 dot) and aggressive (3 dot) base plates, screw with spring to secure base plates to razor, and 4 cartridges of Ted Pella/ASR blades. Participants are welcome to use a couple blades during their turn, and if a participant has any other injector blade brands they want to contribute to the package I imagine members following you will appreciate the variety. (I only own Ted Pellas.)
3. I am shipping the razor clean and sterilized. Please do the same before handing it off to the next member. Simple Green (preferred), soapy hot water, Barbicide and Scrubby Bubbles are fine. Please do NOT use boiling water or bleach on the razor as it will cause irreversible damage.
4. Carefully wrap and ship the package as your means allow (e.g, USPS, UPS, FedEx). It will be shipping in a small Priority Mail flat rate box. If Priority Mail is a hardship, please switch to a clean, generic box and pack securely. The razor and blades in the package at valued at $100, and there is an expectation that each participant agrees to insure the package in the event the razor needs replacement. Total costs for Priority Mail and insurance will approximate $8, which you might consider the "cost of admission" for the tour.
5. Communicate. Please post in this tour thread when you receive the razor and when it ships. Upon receipt, please contact the next person on the list in order to have their shipping information on-hand when your time with the razor is over. Please PM me as needed or if you have questions. It is never fun to track you down if you are in possession of the razor and have gone off the grid.
6. Post reviews! Please share your impressions, good or bad, with your fellow TSN members.
7. Have fun and...go Shave Nook! After the tour I intend to PIF the razor to one of the participants.
Thanks TSN!

Note that the version being sent around in the pass-around is v1. See the video below regarding how to eject a blade by pushing on the baseplate, as the traditional method of using the injector key may result in a second blade being inserted underneath the one already in the razor. I believe this issue has been addressed in v2, though I personally like the feature.

"The Single Edge" Razor arrived in this morning's mail. I had a two day growth of beard that needed shaving, so I went straight to it. I used the aggressive baseplate and a new Personna blade, which I hand loaded. I had not used a Personna blade for many years. My first shave with it was a little disappointing; somewhat less than a DFS, and with some neck irritation. For the next shave I'll use a Schick blade.
I have a lot of experience with the Pal Adjustable, which I always use on the highest setting, and which almost always gives me a DFS in just 1 pass WTG mostly. The Pal is lighter, more agile, and gives better audible feedback than "The Single Edge". The Pal also cuts much closer than The Single Edge did on my first shave with it. I will give it several more shaves before sending it on it's way, but I don't think it's a razor that I would buy.
"The Single Edge" actually more resembles the slightly shorter non-adjustable Personna razor, in both appearance and performance, than it does the Pal adjustable. Here's a picture of "The Single Edge" and My Old Pal side by side, as well as an online picture of a Personna razor for comparison.

My thanks to Michael for his generosity and graciousness.

My second shave with this razor was much better than my first. The Schick blade made all the difference. I got a DFS in 1 pass mostly WTG, which is my standard. I'm an old man with a coarse white beard, and for me a BBS shave is difficult and costly. To avoid irritation and ingrown hairs on my neck, I rarely shave ATG or do multi-pass shaves. Good prep, and a careful 1 pass shave with an aggressive razor, seems to work best for me. The Single Edge, with the aggressive baseplate (using Schick blades), seems to do the job, but honestly, I think I like my old Pal better. It's lighter, more agile, and more aggressive than The Single Edge, and that's true for my Schick E-2 as well. The Personna blades that come with it are inadequate and disappointing. I will give it one more shave, with a clipped Feather AC Pro blade, before sending it on it's way.

For my third shave with The Single Edge, I used a cut-down-to-size Feather AC Pro blade.
I initially tried the Medium baseplate, but within a few strokes switched back to the Aggressive one.
On this razor the Feather blade did not stand out from the Schick. They both gave me smooth close shaves, without weepers or irritation.
The Personna blade was another matter, leaving me with both residual stubble and irritation.
The razor (with the Aggressive baseplate) is both efficient and attractive, but rather heavy and not very agile.
It weighs in at 108 grams; whereas my Pal Adjustable weighs 52 grams, and my Schick E-2 weighs only 32 grams.
But some men like heavy razors, just as some men like heavy women. De gustibus non est disputandum.
My thanks again to Michael for his generosity. It has been a pleasure.
I will be sending it on to lestorfreemon tomorrow.

I wanted to let those participating in the tour (or those considering participating) that I have some Schick blades on order and I will send them out on the road as soon as they arrive. (I should have the blades in a few days.) I had a poor experience with the Ted Pellas and, after reading Roy Otto Yor's comments, I wanted those trying the injector to have the best possible experience.
UPDATE: 9/6 - Blades have arrived and are being mailed to lestorfreemon this evening.

If it looks like that is about to happen please send me a note, and we can push you back a turn on one of the pass arounds. I will also keep an eye out, but could use the extra set of eyes.
